Hey, a quick question for the people out there with a solid knowledge of machines. My laptop has a P4mobile 1.8gighz hampster, 512mb RAM, and my graphics card is a ATI Mobility 9600 w/ On-chip 64MB DDR (128-bit). So, I figure I'm about par in the hampster and RAM division; slightly below par w/ the graphics card. ANyhow, I was wondering if there were any programs out there that I might be able to utilize that would cut down the amount of ram/processor/g-card resources used by windows and other programs while I played? I figure that would help me cut down the amount of video lag I get from time to time. THX alot.

I have found that laptops seem to just run slower then a desktop with similar stats. In fact one time I bought a laptop to replace my laptop. The laptop had a faster processor, equal ram, bigger hard drive. Video card wise I had, at the time, a geforce 3 128megs of ram. The laptop had a ati mobile 64 meg something or another. Any case the laptop ran EVERYTHING alot slower then my desktop. I ended up selling the laptop off because it couldnt' do what I wanted. I mean you know your PC is crap when it can't run THE SIMS at a decent rate......

Just had a another thought. Would it be a good idea or a bad idea to increase the size of my virtual memory on the hard drive?

Windows should handle setting a larger page file if you didn't change the default settings.

Easiest thing I can think of to getting a speed boost would be to up the ram to 1gb o_O?

You may need to take out both sticks though since alot of them come with both slots filled up.
