A silly question really:Follow

So I hit lvl 20 with my monk today (after only 5 days playing, pretty casually even, xp never came that quickly), but I have absolutely no experience with buying or looking for a horse.

I always play Paladin normally and in EQ II or WoW, they got it pretty easy. That's just a spell to buy or even get.

But do I now really have to buy a horse like in South Qeynos that cost at least 2 pp?

The best and cheapest way to get around is with Spirit Totems of the Wolf. You can buy them from the broker for around 2-4g each, and a single totem has five 30-minute charges.

Before I got my carpet, I always kept at least 3 totems in my inventory. It will change you into the form of a wolf, but if you don't like that, you can turn off the illusion while still keeping the speed buff on.

Don't waste you money on a horse. It's much better spent on gear or spell upgrades.

Thanks Tutan, I just might do that actually. Especially if horses are truly that expensive.

Or you could of just roled a bard, natural sow and all. But yeah you dont need a horse, the sow totoms or bloods of the wolves would be better investment. Atleast untill you get to the high end where the money means less.

They can be used by almost anyone. Not sure how low the level goes, but I had one on my low level noobster.

Yeah, I got some lesser sow potions on me.

Ofcourse, I don't really use those as I always feel it to be a bit of a shame to waste one Smiley: smile

Mind you, money does seem to come easier nowadays. Can't truly remember, but never had this much gold on me with my first char, not 15 gp anyway.

There are lots of good ways to generate cash.

I have always found it easy to make money from trade skilling, but it does take time and effort to get to a place where your goods are viable. Also there is no easy out... you will make a good living from selling pristine final combines but not much from trying to sell interums or simple items.

Ultimately, rare crafted goods are the way to go. When someone buys a full set of rare crafted leather or cloth armor from me I make bank!

But I digress... you were talking about horses...

Although my esteemed guildmate, Tutanbriarpaw is against the purchase of a horse, I must disagree... I have purchased two - one for each of my mains and although they are an extravagant purchase, I feel they were worth the money.

You also have the option of paying for a mount partially with status points. You could grind out some writs and before you know it, BAM, Bob's your uncle!

Tier 2 is probably your best bet... a decent speed increase and a reasonable pricepoint...

You can get wolf blood from any wolf, I have some on characters still on the isle. Though the higher level wolves give better versions. They always seem pretty common to me.
