Buy the latest expansion. It has the original game and the latest expansion. 9 discs and about a 2 hour download will get you going!

In EQ2 any race can be any class,so you can be anything you want and be effective. What type of DD do you mean? Berzerker,Shadow Knight, and Bruiser cannot stand up to scout/mage professions. Zerkers/SK are wanted mainly as tanks as far as i know so Brusier/Monk would be your choice for Okay damage and the ability to live. And you can buy Kingdome of Sky to get the original version and the expansion. And if you want to you can buy station access to get +4 character slots and the Bloodline Chronicals and Splitpaw saga for $22 a months, you can also use the same account name of any other SoE games you have, such as Start Wars Galaxies. Now to the solo classes. I would say a conjouror would be a good solo class due to their pets and okay nukes. If you want to be able to group and solo i would go with Mystic,Warden,Fury,or defiler. Necromancers are also good soloers for their Damage over time spells and pets. Also if you want to be a group DD i would go with Swashbuckler or Ranger for good, or Brigand and Assasin for evil

One drawback to playing a non-DPS class (i.e. fighter or healer) is your battles will be longer than that of a DPS class. You damage output will be low, so you'll slowly chip away at the mob.

Sure, you'll have better survivability, but it will take longer. If you want to blaze through mobs and be fairly protected, go with some sort of Scout like a Ranger, Assassin, or Brigand. Troubador/Dirge have good buff/debuff songs, but they do not put out as much DPS.

There is no "best" race. Each may have a special racial ability, but it is not a game-breaker. SOE has worked hard to ensure all races are fairly balanced.

This may be your opportunity to break from the norm. Female Elf Monk? Half-Elf Necromancer? Ogre Wizard? Halfling Paladin? It can be done!

There are several servers that are sporting a heavy load. Make your character during your normal play-time. Look at the server list and it will give you an idea of how loaded the servers will be when you play.

Najena is a great server, always people on, lot's of guilds in all levels. It was not hit by the recent server merge, so that speaks well for it's bustling population.

If you go with Najena, look me up. I can help you get started with some gear, spells, directions, and coin. :)

Hehe,Tutan is right. You may not be able to survive but the battle would be shorter and you could "live"longer and be able to win. As he said you can be anything...but umm Tutan,Halfling paladin isnt new :P they could be that in EQ1 (inless you mean stat wise)
