How does everyone feel about them? I have been back and forth whether or not our guild needs one. Here are the questions, in my mind, that keep popping up:

IN A GUILD

1. Do you enjoy going to the website or do you find yourself not caring?

2. If available, would/do you post on the Guild Message Board?

3. What type of things are on your website and what things would you like to see added?

4. The main question: Is it necessary to have a website?

SEARCHING FOR A GUILD

1. If a guild does not have a website, are they automatically discluded from your list?

2. Do you first search for guilds with websites to make your decision?

3. What type of impact does the website have on your decision?

4. Do you like to see a guild charter and rules set up?

I just want our guild running at peak performance. Any suggestions would be a huge help.

I happen to like Guild pages especially if I'm not the only person using them.

<.<;

IN A GUILD
1. Do you enjoy going to the website or do you find yourself not caring?

I enjoy visiting but I get frustrated if it's not maintained and used by the rest of the guild.

2. If available, would/do you post on the Guild Message Board?

Yes

3. What type of things are on your website and what things would you like to see added?

share achievements
plan / organize events
schedule events (date-wise)

4. The main question: Is it necessary to have a website?

No, but it really helps my planning out of game

SEARCHING FOR A GUILD

No

2. Do you first search for guilds with websites to make your decision?

Yes, and unless I have a reccomendation from a friend they would probably be the only guilds I would look at.

3. What type of impact does the website have on your decision?

Having one has no impact on my decision, having a guild that fits what I want will.

4. Do you like to see a guild charter and rules set up?

Yes!

Let me preface this by saying that back in EQ1 I was in a guild that had an awesome web site. Here in EQ2, so far... not so much!

It seems to me that in this game many guilds choose not to spend the time and effort involved in maintaining a site. Interesting since there is no cost involved and it is one of the guild perks offered by SOE.

I always felt that it was nice... even imortant for the guild members to have a gathering spot out of game and the guild site provided that.

It was, (in my EQ1 days), a perfect spot to hold discussions on upcoming or future target zones and mobs. A place to post threads looking for intel or help with a mob or quest line. And also a repository of guild knowledge and information on a wide variety of techniques and skills.

For whatever reason(s), I have not yet seen this sort of site in EQ2. And I have looked! I have visited numerous SOE provided sites and have yet to find one that was at all interesting...

Bottom line here is yes, I feel they are important... even very important but I don't think much of the player base aggrees with me... Maybe the game is so casual that most folks just don't feel any need or desire to organize! To answer your questions directly...

IN A GUILD:
1 - yes, I enjoy it.
2 - yes I would post
3 - no short answer... see above discourse!
4 - I think so but what do I know!

SEARCHING FOR A GUILD:
1 - no, it hasn't stop me so far!
2 - no
3 - little or none since most sites are crap!
4 - yes and always read them.

I think when a guild has a good website it shows a level of commitment. Like everyone has been saying, it's nice to have a place to "meet up" with guildies to discuss future raids and groups. Plus, there's always someone to brag to when you reach the next level or find that item you've been searching for.

To be able to refer to a website to answer general questions to potential or current members is way easier than trying to explain a guild's status and purpose via EQ2 chat.

I am of two sides to this one. In the guild I am in now we have the free website with charter and no one seems to post. Does that bother me? Not really, the guild does not raid alot and has no system in place for raiding.

Now eventually I will switch to a raiding guild. When I do this a guild website is a must. This is pretty much needed for introducing any type of fair looting policy and tracking it to make sure tabs are kept on the people who have control of the system used to divy out raid loot.
