Morning everyone,

I installed the store bought version of the new expansion, waited for an hour to down load the patch, and logged in to my main who was parked on the dock in enchanted lands.

Ding! I was amazed to here the familiar discovery exp and the phrase above my toon's head said congratulations on discvery the docks! I moved off the docks and DING! More discovery exp...

At this point I fired up a Totem Spirt of the Wolf and proceeded to run through every camp/area/spot that I thought would give me some more bonuses and proceeded to get about 50% of a level at 40 running like mad through the enchanted lands in about 45 minutes.

Must point out that I had already discovered all these areas...

Tried Nek Forrest and TS but the experience wasn't worth it at 40. Went on to Lavastorm and Everfrost and tried to go as far as I could but usually got my butt handed to me so I logged.

In Summary...

Went from 40.35% to 40.96% in about 45 minutes running through zones and re-discovering them. Didn't hurt my Vitality so I managed a great night without draining valuable vitality.

I think they reset discovery spots for the new AA system. One of the ways to earn xp for them is to discover new areas, which gives higher levels a disadvantege since they have aleady been to those places.

I got a few of these in EL too. And then, the server crashed! I was unable to log back in for the duration of the evening so I couldn't take things any further.

I like Durge's explaination as to why we can re-discover places... I think I'm gonna have to start taking eall my characters out on "sight seeing" trips for a while!

I zoned into TS last night, got a ding that I discovered an area, and also got my first Achievement point. It seems like any Achievement experience at all gives you your first point. Then running through TS I got 20% toward my next point just from a dozen or so location discoveries.

Check your Achievement tree (L key), you may be pleasantly surprised.

If I haven't purchased KoS, are my "new" discoveries being banked toward my AS? Or should I stop discovering things until I pick up the expansion?

Your Discovery exp before buying the expansion is for nothing. I never registed the expansion, got the exp, but got no progress towards aa's.

But the expansion and register first.

Anyhow, that was the only reason I could think of for the discoveries being re-discoverable.

So for those of us who are not jumping on the bandwagon and forking out $30 to SOE are going to be unable to get certain rewards because we are discoverying the places now? Surely that is not right? I mean you walk through a zone you will discover some of the stuff rather you want to or not.

I noticed I got some discovery exp in TS but that was the only place as of so far.

I could be wrong, but it seems to me that if you don't get the expansion you won't be able to use the AA system. You can look at the XP tree for each of your characters but you won't get any XP points to spend.*

You will gather additional "free" XP for re-discovering all the places you have already been but it will be regular XP and not AA XP.

Needless to say, you also won't be able to adventure in the new zones so if you have a character at or near lvl 60, you won't be going much further with him!

*This assumption is based on my having re-discovered several locations between last night and tonight and still having zero AA points or experience when I logged out to install the new expansion.

--EDIT-- It's confirmed! As soon as I finished installing KoS I logged back in and started seeing AA XP right away. BTW - nice new effect when you ding an AA level!

I can't believe I mis-spelled your name either! That's what I get for trying to sneak in a quick post while I was supposed to be working! Sorry for the ***** up!
