I for one don't like it abit. For starters they have to make them lvl 70 epic X4!! I mean come on What fun is it if you die in 1 hit from these mobs. About the only areas you can go to without a raiding party is pretty much the little towns outside of the main city.

And to top it all off I dont' see how you can get the update for Reaching blade of the assassin thanks to this update. There is a lvl 66^^^ guard outside of the inn, and there is a lvl 70 epicX4 encounter which includes a guard and 2 dogs on each side blocking the route that goes near the tavern. None of these mobs roamed I waited quite awhile for it. I would imagine anybody even in there 60's could die easily from 1 or 2 hits from this encounter, especially since being a SK its going to whack you with a insane harmtouch being epic and all.

Also North Qeynos is now full of lvl 70 epic X4 guards that roam all over the place. This doesn't include the roaming lvl 60ish and lvl 50ish guards as well. So its not going to be a walk in the park for evils either. However at least Qeynos is Doable.

I had actually put off doing that quest for this patch. Should have known SOE would ***** it up and make the towns more impassible then ever! And to boot the ones that are actually heroics are also way underconned. I can normally solo a lvl 40 or 41 green mob, however I started in on a lvl 41 guard ^^^ and it had a TON of hitpoints. DPS wise it was no different then yoru average 41 mob, but I know it had ALOT more hitpoints then it should. Of course I haven't killed any lvl 41 heroics since patch, who knwos maybe they snuck a nerf in on us.

I was having a hard time working that HQ, always getting busted by a guard inside the tavern after a successful sprint across the street, just far enough away from those wandering guards.

I finally asked in OOC if anyone could swing by and hail that guard in the tavern, keeping him busy for just long enough. A 11 Warlock answered the call - it may have helped I offered 5g.

He did, we ran in, and I rapidly clicked through the dialogue boxes like a starving troll through a gnome. We ran out giving each other high-fives, only to get busted by the wandering guards. Oh well, it was a free ride out of town. :)

I agree that the ^^^'s have been bumped up considerably. I can take a blue^^^ but it's a tough fight. I'm dead if I get an add. I'm actually glad they were made tougher, as I've long believed the game has been made too easy.

The scaling plan would fall into the scaling plan they discussed...the closer to home you are, the safer you are. I would expect to see not-so-tough guards farther away.

I won't get to check it out for a while, as I'm getting my LASIK done tomorrow morning.

Consider it's really not any different than the insta-boot guards, you're just dead instead of kicked out.

I kinda think they did this for PvP. They have to make the guards mega powerful, otherwise you could have groups of opposing city players shutting down your town and camping anyone who enters. This way they'll need at least 2 or 3 24 person raids of very high end players to get anywhere. That force would be difficult to put together considering there would be no in game reward for their trouble. (I guess that's assuming the guards don't drop fabled gear. Anyone know if they do?)

The guards won't drop anything good (hopefully!!!). That will discourage the upper level guilds from camping the other city zones.

Good point. I belive that is a viable reason.

Usually, I would agree with you. However, using that reasoning, the non-PvP servers should not have been affected as bad if at all. I think they did it for sake of "realism" within the fantasy setting.

Before this update there was no guards at all in the area needed for this quest. I wouldn't be as upset if they had guards in the same places with same pathing etc. But they have new guards with new pathing and as I stated this particular epic guard does not move.

And I don't see how this helps with PVP. For starters they could have easily just made the towns safe zones, or as stated above simply left them unchanged on non-pvp servers.
