I want to buy and play EQ2 and I have a few questions to ask.

-First off, to those who have played EQ2 and Wow, which one was better?
-Next is if you have to pay by credit card or is there game cards like World of Warcraft?
-I want your opinions on which class is the best, I don't know about anything in Everquest 2. Only played it for like an hour at my friend's house and the was EQ1.
-And last, which is the best way to level and easiest way of making money?

Hey,
I was just in the same boat as you and here is what I did. I tried the Everquest 2 Trial of the Isle and discovered that I enjoyed the gameplay system and the depth of characters. I played EQ one and WoW for a while, but in my opinion, this has been the most satisfying gameplay. Especially with the upcoming Kingdom of the Sky expansion bringing PvP and loads of other features into the game. Try the game out, it's only 20 dollars and you get a free first month.

As for the best race/class there really is no best class. Each class has its own specialty and the only way to beat the most formidable opponents is to create the right combination of classes in a group. However, if you want to, you can solo through the game, but that can be tedious and no fun.

Hope that helps...Any other questions just ask 'em.

That concept has given birth to 400+ post threads on this forum. It really comes down to the fact that one is not better than the other, just different. WoW is more of a cartoon feel to the graphics, while EQ2 is more realistic. In both games you pretty much do the same thing...fight, quest, loot, win, die. WoW has been described as easier to level than EQ2.

I'm pretty sure there are game cards you can buy and use.

Classes are broken down like this:
Tanks: Your fighters are desiged to stand up front with the mob and duke it out.
DPS: That's your Scouts and Mages. They can dish it out but can't necessarily take it - especially Mages.
Healers: Those are the priests that do their priest thing...heal.

Within each of these groups are variations to the class. For example, in the Fighter group, a Guardian is heavily armored, can take a beating, but has low DPS. Another fighter is a Monk, that uses martial arts to deal much higher damage, and relies on avoidance to not get hit.

In the Mage food group you have Wiards that are at the high end of DPS for anyone, laying devastating damage spells. And then there are Illusionists, that can mezmerize a mob in it's tracks and even charm it to have it fight for the Mage.

For Scouts there are Rangers that are masters of a bow and deal high damage that way. You also have Troubadors, that use music and songs to charm, beguils, buff, and strike down opponents.

There are a total of 24 different classes, each with their own abilities and spell lines.

the best way to level
Get in a group and run through heroic mobs. You COULD easily solo your way to the max level with all the solo content, but it would be a little slower with less valuable loot drops.

easiest way of making money
There is no guarenteed way to make a ton of cash, otherwise I'd be doing it. The basic ways to make money are:
- Sell your loot drops to the merchants.
- Put your loot drops on the public market for other players to buy.
- Take up an artisan class and sell your crafted wares to other players.

I've seen a 3-boxer (1 person playing 3 computers, each with a character) runthrough a hunting area I've been in, wiping it clean in clockwork fashion. I was able to talk to him briefly...he said he makes 14 plat in 12 hours of play, and hands it all to "the boss". I figured him to be a sweat-shop account, scooping up money for 3rd party plat sellers.

Artisan and crafting takes up time and is not very exciting, so it may not be your thing.

I tried WOW when they had that free 10 day trial. Two days was enough to tell me I didn't like it. I found it boring and I won't stand for that crap waiting in line just to log in.

Far as best class please rember this is my opinon. Getting that out of the way when the nay sayer comes in and syas everything I just said is wrong. Also keep in mind ALL classes can solo the solo mobs.

I have found tank classes can solo very well. I can take heroic greens ^^^ and solo 1 ^ mobs up to 3 and 4 levels above me if I am careful. Group wise Tanks are pretty important and tend to have a somewhat easy time getting a group. A downside of a tank though is alot of people only invite you to groups where mobs are somewhat lower level. For instance I see groups all the time of lvl 43 to 45 DPS/healers asking for a lvl 47+ tank for permafrost. People are scared to death to get a tank they are not best friends with and have them tank a yellow con mob.

Scout Classes I don't have alot of experience with. But I have noticed they offer the best DPS in the game. Group wise every group needs a DPS, but you see people shouting for tank/healers more often then DPS classes. Some of the more skilled can do some really nice soloing but it usually cost alot of money in arrows etc if you want to try and kite. I have only see a very select amount of people able to do this with heroics.

Mage classes get a group about as easy as a Scout does usually because tehy are your basic DPS. Solo wise they have changed with some of the pet changes, but I know they used to not be able to solo heroics at all. I played a conjurer to lvl 50 and with adept 3 pet adept 1/3 and a few master dots I could not solo grey mobs for the life of me. Pet would die if I didn't heal, if I did heal I got agression. And if I tried to do any dps while pet was tanking I got agression and still died. I think alot of that changed though.

And healer classes probably walk into a group before anybody else. Almost anytime of any day you see the chat channels flooded with people looking for a healer.

The only people I hear complain about trying to solo are the caster classes who don't have a pet.
