I am curious about the factions in Desert of Flame. Looks like there is 3 of them and ATM I am indifferent to them all. Is there any reason that I should try to gain faction with any particular one? It looks like to gain faction with 1 you lose faction with the other 2. I mean is there anything good that you can do if your faction is high enough, and if so what is the best one to do? I hate to end up KOS with the other 2 if there is no really good reason to gain faction with 1 of them. Also the quests you have to do with them seem long and tedious considering you get no reward other then faction (at least the ones that I have found in Sinking Sands show no reward).

Just a bit more on what Tutanbriarpaw said, which was really accurate btw :)

Ive found out that its easier to move around and get tokens and stuff if you have several ppl in your guild with different factions. Keep those tokens. If you are questaholic you will need them. Reason for that is that every court has its own line of quests, which eventually lead to the titles Tutanbriarpaw mentioned. Once youve completed all the quests in one court you are given access to a special instanced zone for this court ; these are fun to do, and the Blades one is even quite challenging at first. Then if you are questaholic you can 'flip' your faction with tokens and get access to another court and do all the quest line in there and get access to another instanced zone...reason why you would do that is that once you get access to all 3 instances and get the 3 pieces of medaillon that drops there, you get another quest...for a very good item :).

On a side note, DoF is much more quest oriented than the rest of the game. What I mean by that is you start a quest serie, complete it, then it opens up another quest serie. Some of the best items in the game so far are obtained that way...with A LOT of work (omg the peacock quest serie takes forever lol) and on top of all, quests rewards are all no-trade, which means, if you like that or that part of equipment, you have to quest it to get it yourself.

Thanks for the information, it is very helpful. I don't really think anybody in my guild is much into the factino yet, but I will basically ask them. My main concern was if the choice you made was as important as say velious faction in eq1.

I have noticed every quest item I get in DOF has been no trade. Only bad thing about it is when you get caster gear or gear that is not a upgrade. I have yet to find a quest item I actually want to wear, although every quest I have done has been soloable. At least the finished items do sell decent to vendors.

So there is no way to gain spells past 51 without faction? I mean no app4/adept 3 from players or adept 1/master 1's?

Even after level 51, you an still have alchy/jeweler/sage makes your app4/adept3's or purchase them or any adept 1's/master1's off the broker.

This is true. Apparently SOE thinks it's enough of a problem that according to beta rumors (i.e. don't be surprised if they're not true) they're making quested and dropped items in KoS better than crafted, possibly better than rare crafted.

Having spent a lot of time to get to level 60 crafting and, up til now, having the capability to make very good gear, this does not thrill me.

You can buy player crafted spells and dropped from the broker after level 50. They are craftable and drop the same as other tiers. The only level available from the faction is Apprentice II. You also get your Master II spell choice at 54 - which I used to get one of my level 54 spells for free.
