I finally settled on my main character after trying a couple of different classes out. I really like the Warden class in they can heal just as well as a standard Templar, but basically has a few interesting twists that make it quite a fun class. The only problem is they are only allowed to wear leather armor and carry a buckler for a shield. When that giant's club comes a swingin' at you there isn't much in the way of armor to deflect it.

What is the best mix of armor for a level 25 Warden that can either be quested, tradeskilled, or hunted? Having enough armor to keep yourself and the group alive is essential.

I play a warden and at lvl 44, I have have settled into a pattern with her. Each time I enter a new tier, I spring for a complete set of player crafted rare leather armor. (ok - she is also a tailor so I'm really just buying the raw rares!) I also invest in the best jewelery I can afford each tier and a good weapon is critical. (I carry a player crafted imbued 2 hander.)

Anyway, I really like the stats on the rare crafted stuff along with the rest of it I've been able to solo her all the way to tier 5 with hardly a death.

The price on rares has fallen enough so that anyone can afford to indulge in high end armor. And with the upcoming changes to crafting (no more sub-combines), you should be able to find a tailor to make you a set for a reasonable price. Then every ten levels, it's rinse and repeat!

If you're on Najena, look me up and I'll make you your first set for free if you supply the rares. (Amorina and Hijera are my mains.)

Hmmm...good advice. One of the things I really like about EQ1 over EQ2 is (IMHO) the vastely superior tradeskill system and armor that is actually meaningful to craft. I have a series of six characters each dedicated specifically to a tradeskill and maxed out at the tier for my main. Crafting definitely is within the realm of possiblity, and it is an activity I take a good deal of pleasure & pride doing. Is the Tier3 crafted rare as good as the quested armor? Is the time better devoted to crafting or questing? From what I've read both with this posting and on other forums it sounds like the crafted armor is pretty darn good and worth the time commitment.

Did you mean EQ2 over EQ1? I always thought the crafting in EQ1 was kind of pointless except for the resale value of some food and drink items in the bazaar... (think fish rolls & Grobb's liquidized meat!)

Anyway, I actually like the crafted stuff better. I have sort of gone both routes by keeping my ranger in, (mostly), dropped gear while my warden gets the rare crafted stuff, (I guess she's just a high maintenence gal!). Anyway, the ranger's high agi coupled with the higher mitigation of chain lets him dodge more blows and lets him survive just about as well as she does.

And for the record, the crafted rare armor for any given tier tends to be the same or a little better than the crafted common from the next tier up.

The big shift will come when you get up to the top tier and the mob-boss, raid dropped "big deal of the day" kind of armor drops become available. But... first you'll need to be on those raids and then you'll need to win those drop lottos...

There is some very nice +wis gear in T6 (DoF) and wonder of wonders, it's mostly leather stuff, made for the druids, (YAY!).
