Well , I was recently playing the trial version of EQ2 and I could choose any class at the start. I was a Dark Elf Necromancer , and i see posts about having to get to lv 10 then 20 and things to upgrade your classes.. Is it like this only for Trial version or did they change it so you could just choose any at start ?

That was some old information about the old character progression path. Now, when you pick your starting class, you will have your class abilities from the beginning.
As you level, you will still be a Necromancer and get spell upgrades. You will also get periodic racial and class abilities to select when you gain certain levels. Since you are a Necromancer, you will want to get your INT as high as possible.
It will increase your Power pool, and increase your spell damage.
