Well looks like I picked a bad day to sit back and play. Alas I play on Nek and its the server merge day for me( I thought from the first listing it was yesterday) so here it is almost 2:30 pst and server still not up.How long does it realy take, the EQ site says 8 hours and were about to hit 12.

Rule of thumbs:

1.) Never stay home from work/school to play EQ. Servers will always be down.

2.) Always multiply the SOE estimated downtime by a factor of 1.9. This will give you a more realistic time frame.

On major patch/server reduction days, you might as well forget playing at all. Servers come up and go down all day to fix bugs. I tried to log in about 5:30pm est and saw that my world of Nektolus didn't even exist. Therefore I took the dogs for a walk at the park, had a beer (or three) and proceeded to re-install Pharoah on my CPU and build an eqyptian kingdom until bed time!

How many people here are on Nektulos anyway? I thought we were EQ2's best kept secret...

I spent some time playing that other game last night.

The servers finally came on last night between 11:00 and Midnight CST. Then things were hopping. The Inn in Starcrest Commune looked like the bank in the Plane of Knowledge.

The merge seems to have gone smoothly and I didn't notice any increase in lag in the short time I was on, running around Qeynos. I would rather have long downtime and no glitchs than a rush job with problems.
