Just how graphics-intensive, shiny, and overall show-offy are the spells in this game? I've heard a lot of good about Wizard; I like the sound of Ice Comet and if it's as impressive as the name suggests it'll probably be my class.

The spells I think look nice coming from a game like WoW .. WoW's spells were simple and boring looking, except for maybe 2 of them ... This games graphics were alot diff imo and i jus have to get used to them o.O

Most of the animation is centered around yourself. THere are different colors, flashes, effects, and styles, although spells of a similiar line (one that upgrades another) will typically retain the same animation.

To get the best spell effects you need to have your video settings set to balanced or better, although you can still get some effects at lower settings.

Since this game is so graphics-intensive, you'll need a semi-good system to play with all the wiz-bang graphics. At least 256MB video card and 2GB RAM. Although you can play with less gear, it will drop your graphics.

I'm not a graphics card genious, but make sure it support the shading requirements in the game specs. You can also check out the technical part of the SOE forums - there are large discussions about video cards.

1GB+ will get you through - I've been playing with 768MB since launch.

Any second opinions? Especially curious to know what Ice Comet looks like? I have a near-benchmark computer (Geforce 6800 Ultra, 1gb of ram, etc etc) so I usually have the settings on High, or Balanced if I'm in a largish group. I really just have no idea what their spells look like, the highest Wizard I got was Lv12 so I don't really have a good idea of what they're like, heh.
