Allakhazam's EQ2 WebsiteFollow

#1 Feb 10 2006 at 2:15 PM Rating: Default
I loved Allakhazam's website when I was playing EQ1. I was on it everyday. However, now that I'm playing EQ2, this website is not worth the $$ I paid for PREMIUM access. Extremely disappointed to say the least. I will not be renewing my subscription again. I use Ogamings website, which is free, and much superior to this website. I'm not so upset over this website, but to charge a fee for the premium access for what Allakhazam delivers is such a waste. Visit this superior site for for your EQ2EQ2 info: http://eq2.ogaming.com/

Since 4 million people play WoW and only a handful of people play EQ2, then Allah devotes more time to WoW. I don't blame him at all.

I am here more for the community than the information available, and although I could have that for free, I choose to support this site since I derive value from visiting here. Could I get the same value without paying for the service... yes but Alla owes me nothing and I see no reason to expect something for nothing...

And btw Bubba... imho it is tacky to come here with a whopping 5 posts under your belt and dis the site while hawking another... makes me think you have an agenda...

Plus the majority of the immature people who play EQ2 stay away from this board which allows for stimulated discussions and excellent help.

Even though you may have to wait a bit until you get your answer. Most of the people in this forum are polite and respectful.

Try finding those characteristics in the Wow and FXII forums.

I also discovered Alla's through EQ1 and over the years I've come to respect his attitude to gamers and gaming Smiley: smile

This is one of the last bastions against advertising from those low-life plat sellers, and the community is one that also deserves respect. So I'm happy to part with the very few dollars needed for Premium.

Plus I get to use this if I want Smiley: goat

$10 every 3 months isn't going to break the bank. All of us with premium understand what a great site Alla's is. You apparently missed the boat Tonto. I gladly support Allas and his devotion to keeping this site 100% free of plat sellers and the like. Next time, don't waste board space with such an asinine post.

I believe most of us already know about Ogaming, but it is not a superior site for my eq2 info, that is the game itself.

I, as others have said find the community better here. That is why I give them my pittance, it isnt much, and comes with a free magazine subscription.

geesh...

I didn't join this website for the forums. You peeps can chat all you want for all I care, play your dungeon and dragons, and role-play at the local Scarborough Fairs. I joined for the search features like in EQ1 which was/is fantastic. I thought EQ2 would be no different. I'm sorry that you all got your panties in a wad b/c I have only a few posts. Who cares how many posts I made? I just joined for the search features. I don't want to chat with anyone. What is wrong with that? Put a disclaimer on the website...whoop-dee-doo. Most of the info on the website, excluding the forums perhaps, is wrong anyway...I was trying to warn peeps like me who just want the info w/o the warm fuzzies...Get a life..

Actually you did join this site for the forums. Since you didnt go premium for the search features, that is the only other reason for joining. You can read the forums and databases without being a member.

Feeling a little hostile, are we? from the way you speak, I'll bet you're almost 14 now...

And btw - you didn't join, you just came here to suck up the free resources so if you're not happy here go somewhere else... you're not invested here and we won't miss you...

Here's a free life lesson for you. If you didn't join a site for the forums, don't start bashing the site on the very forums you had no intention of joining. It works out for everyone. Trust me.

Now, in regards to "most of the info is wrong anyway". Newsflash: ALL information on other sites is from players. You are bound to find flaws/differing opinions on everything you look up. Why not just go into the game and find out for yourself? I know for a fact that neither OGaming's search function nor the official site's are all that great. You will find many a flaw in the armor and quests because SOE is running large LU's monthly and is releasing new expansion packs every two months. It is almost impossible to keep up with the pace. Do your research before opening that gaping hole in your face.

lol, have to say, this made me laugh...more than a handful play eq2.

I use both sites, Alla for the entertaining posts, like this one, and Ogaming for the quest info. Been using Allah since my first week of eq, hope it stays relatively intact.

Shussh!!!!

I know more then a handful of people play EQ2 but I was trying to discourage this person... His/Her mentality is better suited for the WoW crowd.

Don't let the cat outta da bag!

It doesnt give quite the same look as bubba spewed, but it can allow some different creativity.

But that wouldn't have the same OBD feel to it. It's almost like his trademark now.

But isnt that the way things work. Something works they way it is, but we have to change it to a new and improved version, just to realize the old way was just as good or better?

Flame me? ...kool

Did I pay for a premium account? The answer is yes. Allakhazam's EQ1 premium site is/was very much like Ogaming's website w/o the banner trash. I never complain about free sites even if I don't like them (It's free...dont gripe). I don't use the forums on Ogamings website much either. If you do not subscribe to Allakhazams EQ1 premium services, you get basically what get you pay for AK's premium EQ2 website. I wouldn't complain if I wasn't a PAYING subscriber knit wits! Look at the spell lists for goodness sakes...Necro spell list has quite a few errors. Is it my jod to submit sorrections? If it is, fine, but dont charge me for it. I was under the impression, as a former EQ1 website premium subscriber, that I would get the approximate same type of website as EQ1 (Which is/was nearly flawless to me). So go ahead a flame me, but I pay(ed)the $$. I just expected a comparable website like Allakhazam has established for EQ1. Btw, I'm not 14 years old...and it's pretty sad when nobody can voice there views w/o somebody flaming you. I paid my subscription & all I expected was a website that was good as EQ1. That too much to ask? Apparently it is for the EQ2 Forum *****....lol

i honestly hate alla's eq2 site. It has outdated information. The color scheme annoys me to no end. But i love the community. When you also go to ogaming you are supporting all of the gold/plat/gil sellers. The owners are the same owners of IGE.

Grats on supporting them.

I honestly just use EQ2 maps for my help and otherwise just figure things on my own.

I love alla to no end and i just wish he loved eq2 more.

Sad ...very sad. :(

ohhh and DIE!;p

I'd have to say I agree with this - the value just isn't there. I used Alla all the time for *years* on EQ1, and I didn't have the slightest issue with paying for it. When I switched to WoW, I was pleased to find that Alla was still a very useful resource, and kept up my premium sub. In that game, too, when people were asking for help with quests, equipment, etc, I'd send a tell to "check out allakhazam.com". But for EQ2, there's just very little here. Its not just this site - pretty much every EQ2 site I've seen is vestigial and poorly maintained - except for OGaming. Yeah, I know, plat sellers are bankrolling it, but at least it has some useful content.

I would very much prefer to get my EQ2 help here, and would be happy to keep paying for a subscription. But there needs to be a *lot* more useable information here for that to be worthwhile. If he can do it for EQ1 and WoW, he can do it for EQ2. Word gets around - if the content is here, the traffic will increase, the subs will go up - everybody wins. The EQ2 community clearly feels a need for a good site, or OGaming would not be doing so well. I hope one of the "good guys" like Alla will give us a better alternative.

You have to admit still having "Unlocking Frogloks" stickied makes it look like no one is paying attention to this part of the site.
