Just wondering how many people actually do the tradeskill tasks (not the gathering but the make 10 shaped items stuff).

I did 1 ironforge exchange tasks basically to just get it out of my journal. As a provisioner every one of them seems to want the most expensive items for it. I am lvl 38 ATM and after waiting about 2 weeks randomly requesting more I finnally settled on one to make 10 apple milks. This so far as been the easiest one I have gotten. It requires 10 wild apples (priced at about 50 silver each+ on broker), and 10 rolled oat (which is also priced at around 50 silver usually). OF course I know I can simply harvest it myself, but this takes forever since there is so many various items to get from brush.

Anyways I get the stuff, some from guild members others harvested myself. After spending about 45 minutes refining the oat, making wild apple juice, etc etc I finish the task.

The reward was 1 gold 5 silver and so little status I couldn't even see the blue move on the guild bar. I could have gotten more then this out of selling 2 of the items, and i would have gotten alot more tradeskill exp cause I could have made them pristine instead of shaped quality. I really think they ***** the provisoners on these tasks for the simple fact it is hard to get the components. I mean I probably spend over 20 silver just in fuel to make this stuff, and if I had actually tried to buy from the merchant it would have cost me around 10 gold! I think they could either cut provisoners some slack and actually give us easier tasks, or pay us more since its harder to get the stuff.

Anyways anybody else actually do these things? I heard along time ago they actually paid pretty good but SOE nerfed it.

They currently pay the same rate they always did. The Ironforge tasks pay 160% of your material costs and the TS society tasks pay 120% of your material costs. (No they don't factor in what you may have spent to buy raws on the broker!)

The reason it isn't worthwhile to do these as a provie is because cooking fuel is the cheapest fuel in all of crafting, (each tier's fuel costs about what the other fuels cost in the tier before!), and so your 120% or 160% bottom line doesn't yield as much profit.

As far as status points, they're really for personal status since they pay off partially in cash and yield much less status than the regular writs. But the personal status payout on these tasks is not bad at all.

Does anybody do them? Well, I do.. with both my tailor and my woodworker. They're easy and fast to do since everything only needs to be shapped and I net a tidy additional profit margin by using pelts and wood items that were dropped by mobs whenever I can. I do this because the value of those trash drops is also factored into my task payout. Cha-Ching!

Im actually about to try and do this with the lower level ones I have right now to see how they work. Granted I have far outleveled the task but I need to get it out of my quest log. I am hoping this will be easier with the new way of crafting where I dont have to make subcombines.

A long time ago ( I think before attuneing even came out) there was a patch that nerfed the tradeskill writs. I had not even done one at that time but I know people was throwing a huge fit over it a few days after the patch.

For other crafts I guess it wouldn't be too bad, but when many of the items for provisoner recipes cost outrageous amounts on broker it is hard to really do one quickly. I mean last night I couldn't even find honey for sale, and once again it takes forever to try and harvest any amount of a certain brush item. It might not be so bad if I was ble to buy the stuff off broker for a few copper each.

I actually like the Ironforge Exchange tasks, but I agree that they may not be worthwhile if you buy your harvestables on the broker.
Next time you do a task, don't judge your status by the blue bar in your guild window, as that is guild staus (also seen next to your name) and can vary depending on the number of people in your guild. Instead, open your persona window and check out your personal staus near your name. I was floored when I discovered that my status wasn't actually 600, but rather around 12,000.
