Server Downtime for Faydark Befallen?Follow

#1 Feb 06 2006 at 7:06 PM Rating: Decent
So whats the deal with the server merge. Is this gonna take all day,2 hours, 10 mins. The server has been down all day, with no information from SoE about how long its gonna take. I know they are merging the two servers but all I want is some info.

Why can't they post an estimate so I know if i should not even worry about it till tomorrow or can I get on in 3 hours.

merging 2 server systems, (remember that each "server" is really a bunch of servers), and then verifying the integrity of all that data can take a very long time. But then would you want them to just smush everything together and then re-boot without checking anything? I think not!

If you're itchin to play, I would roll up a character on another server... this could take a while...

There are several threads on the official forums...there is no ETA, although Blackguard stated about 35 minutes ago he'd try to have an ETA in 30 minutes.

Since we were the guinea pig, at least they should have a better idea for the servers to follow (one would hope).

I'd just do as OBD suggested & roll another char on another server for now. Smiley: smile

If you are on a server that is combining, this is something to consider, they create a copy of your info and for the time of the combine, you have 2 of each character, thus you cannot roll out a new toon. I even have a character on a different server I could access, but its as if they dont exist at present. So be aware of this potential issue.

I am at work and I checked the eq2players website until the server status said all the servers were back up again.

But, when I checked my account online, it said I had no characters on my account.

I am hoping when I get home and login that my characters will actually be there and then the website information will be updated but I dont know how the website works.

Have any Faydark players had problems or successes yet?

PS: How many characters per server or game are we allowed in EQ2? I had 8 on one server in EQ1. Thanks.

Greenie wondered:

This is quoted from the LU5 update notes for 3/21/05:
Quote:
Subscribing to EverQuest II provides a total of six character slots, while our Station Access subscribers have a total of ten slots.

Unlike EQ live, this number is all you get for the entire game... across all servers...

A lot of folks complained early on about the limited number of character slots hampering their enjoyment of the game but personally, I find the investment in each character very high in EQ2... much higher than I did in EQ live. So much more so in fact, that after more than a year in-game, I have still never managed to fill all 10 available slots!

The EQ2 Players website is all messed up for us Faydarkians.

Personally I am missing the contents of my shared bank slots on both my Qeynos and Freeport sides. I am pretty sure I have all my house items, although I did not take a count prior to the merge, but it seems about right.

The shared bank thing has happened to a lot of folks, others have lost items from their home, and yet others have had their shared bank items show up in the overflow slot in their inventory.

SOE says they are aware of it, but to /petition each individual case anyway.

Hopefully this will all be cleared up within the next few days. Hopefully.....

I don't know if this is across all servers, but the mail on Lucan is all messed up. Anything sent prior to LU19 that did not reach it's destination in time, is in limbo. On a brighter note, anything sent after LU19 is still showing up. I am wondering if my guild provisioner is going to blame the mail for my "missing" food and drink...

Dirty provisioners.

Edit: Because they are not forums

This is a known issue, (across all servers), and was supposedly fixed in the Feb 4th hotfix but seems to still be broken. Oh, well... they'll get to it eventually... one would hope...

(edited to add quote for clarity...)

Well, my Faydarkian toons on the Befallen server appear to be okay, BUT I suspect that DOUBLING the population is responsible for my less than slow response.
I thought the mail was broken and went on to play in another area and started getting the "you are too busy to do that" msg. I checked my toon over and couldn't figure it out so I moved on then POP there was my mail. Doors, brokers, mail, even some mob interactions were moving like molasses at an outdoor picnic at the north pole (RL).
Brokers kept displaying that they didnt have what I wanted then suddenly the screen would fill with a request three or four requests old.
Oh well, I am sure SOE knew what they were doing when they merged these servers.
