I was looking through my guild bank the other day, thinking to myself how mych stuff we have in there. Each of the four banks seemed filled to the brim with...stuff.

Here's how we have evolved to organize out bounty:
Bank 1
Collection items, armor and weapon loot drops, faction items. Also our main cash bank, but holds only about 2pp.
Bank 2
Guild crafter-made armor and weapons, more gear, spell books.
Bank 3
Harvested items including rares for any guild crafters to use.
Bank 4
Food and drink as made by our Provisioner. We only make level 50+ stuff these days, everyone benefits.

Usually, Bank 1 is open to everyone, and we reserve 2, 3, and 4 for Officers. Since every officer has an alt, then it all works out. When we welcome a new member, we grant them access to 1, but limit the number of withdraws they can make per day to 5. Max cash withdraw limit is 20g for them also.

We have a relatively small guild, and our bank is always packed to the brim. I then wondered how larger guilds use the bank and how they manage it. We have a guild on our server that has 800+ members - it boggled my mind how they could manage a guild bank with such a large population.

What does your guild do?

My guild does something similar to yours.

Slots 3-4 are open to everyone. We use these mainly for crafted items from our crafters, ressources for these same crafters and collection items. There is no limit for withdrawal since it soon became evident that it was annoying to only be able to withdraw, lets say, 1 stack of carbonite a day !

Slot 2 is open to everyone too. We mostly use this one for spells upgrades for our members, weapons and random loot that can help one of our member. In this bank slot I have set a certain limit to withdrawal to avoid abuse.

Slot 1 is strictly reserved to me and the other co leader of my guild. Thats where we put rares we get on raids waiting to be worked into upgrades for my guildies, and that is also where we put the guild money, that we obtain mostly by selling the stuff in raids no one really needs.

Our bank is constantly filled - that is why, as one of the leader, and the one responsible for our banker toon, it is my responsability to keep it somewhat clean by getting the stuff that has been there for a while or that obviously no one will ever use and give it to our devoted banker toon. That also provides extra guild money.

It usually works all fine, no one really abused it, and everyone contributes in his/her own way.

I am in a mid 20's level guild with just over 100 members and most of the guild's bank space is taken up with adept one spells and advanced recipe books. Usually runs to about half the available space. The rest is taken up with player crafted items and weapon/armor/jewelery drops. There are a few rares and collectables stored but no common harvest items as we just don't have the room!

More often than not, when I look in the bank there are no open slots... or maybe a couple. I don't think it's as well organized as your guild's space is, Tut, but we get by!

The guild leaders, (husband and wife duo), have a very loose enrollment policy so only officers and the upper rank elite members can withdraw items but there are usually a few of us on at any given time so that has never posed a problem.

There are no restrictions on members getting items... everyone is welcome to anything they can use. The GL will sometimes ask newer members to "pay it forward" by replacing the things they need with similar items.

We have bank 1 - 3 for pretty much any members no restrictions. We have not had any problems with anybody really leaching or robing it etc. I notice we do get alot of stuff that simply junks it up (like people who put 2 tin clusters in there, etc).

Bank 4 holds raid items, rares, etc that are awarded to memorys by voting or whatever. It has actually had some of the same items in there for months.

I am not a fan of putting money in the guild bank. I mean I do not see any point to it. I know in eq1 it was handy for raid zones that required money to access (IE Plane of Sky/Hate). But I don't see why anybody should have to take money from the guild bank. I know some of the arguements are to help them advance their tradeskills, or to keep members up to date. I just don't think the rest of the guild should have to pay for things like that. Its not like by giving a person money to elvel there tradeskills up they are going to be there 100% of the time to do stuff for you. Heck for all you know they could spill off the classic guild break up speach and join what they feel is a better guild after leveling up and taking guild money. Anyways we don't use the guild bank for money.

I think the slots available in your guild bank should be proportionate to the number of members you have, not your guild level.

<10 members = 40 slots
20 - 50 members = 100 slots
etc., etc.

That being said, our bank is always fit-ta-split. There is really no easy way to organize the bank. Still great ideas.

Also, it is probably easier to manage the guild bank with more members. A guild with 800+ members will have people constantly needing something. The influx and outflux of items is probably non-stop.

In fact I think its the total opposite...the more ppl you have in your guild, the more and more the bank will fill up...theres always a few ppl that use the guild bank as a garbage can and put stuff no one really needs in it. The more my guild has grown and the more I had to take care of the guild bank by taking unused stuff, tracking down with the bank log what has been there for a while and then transfer to banker toon to sell. It only needs organization really, and the more ppl involved in the process, the more you have to keep an eye on it. Too bad chests in guild bank cant contain anything :D !
