Buying horsesFollow

Hi all

I'm fairly new to EQ2 so please bear with me. I heard you can use status points or guild points to lower the cost of buying a horse. Yet although my status and guild has gone up quite a bit recently, they don't seem to be getting any cheaper. Can anyone give me any information on this please?

Your guild must be level 15 before any of the status reductions on the horses will kick in.

At guild level 15, the tier 1 horses (24% speed increase) will be available for discount + status points. And then I believe at guild level 20, the tier 2 horses (higher speed boost) will be available for discount + status points, and it continues from there.

For a much better deal, you can buy a few Spirit Totems of the Wolf at the broker. They are 5 charges each, 1 charge lasts for 30 minutes. You can usually find the SoW totems for less than 5g - they sell for 1.5g on Najena.

I never bought a horse and lived on SoW totems. I used the pp to much better things like spell upgrades and gear.

Once you get to level 48, you can begin a quest in Desert of Flames for a carpet with +40% speed.

However, you'll look really silly riding around on a totem!

Seriously, you do save a bunch of money by not purchasing a horse, but horses are pretty cool looking! I have never regreted the purchase of either of the ones that I have gotten for my two mains.

Regarding the savings from purchasing with guild status, I did the math in a thread here (it's around here somewhere, I swear!), and the end result was that it was easier and cheaper in the long run to just pay cash... quicker too!

I earned the scratch for both my nags through crafting. I maintain a tailor, a woodworker and a cook and have made buckets of cash by making durable and consumable goods with the raws I harvest.
