EQ Live vs EQ IIFollow

I may have mentioned this several times before but on Monday nights I play the original EQ with son's and my son's fiance. I killed something last night and looted the beastie. I was gasping hooting, and hollering at the over 1pp cash in loot. The kids are looking at me like I had two heads. That when I rememberd that oh yah, this is EQ Live where a 1 pp loot is nothing compared to a 1 pp loot on EQ II. Is there anything that drops that much in EQ II?

Only the raid bosses that may drop a few rares, fabled gear, and masters. Other than that, you're limited to the lowered economy. The good news is that you won't find items at the Broker selling for 30,000pp.

I think there's a quest in Desert of Flames that winds up granting a lot of cash as the reward, some folks have posted it was 2pp. The name of the quest escapes me, but it was a hard quest in a series of hard quests.

I remember the good old days of taking my 49 BST to Rathe Mountains and whomping on some hill giants. Those suckers would drop 5-25pp each time. My time there was limited only by the amount of coin I could carry. I always destroyed copper, and even destroyed silver to make room for more gp and pp.

Many months ago I went back to EQ1 to run my BST through Rathe again, for old time sake. I ran through Nek Forest with ease, but upon zoning into Rathe, during the black log screen, I heard some whacks, a yelp, and a thud. When my screen finally came to, my Barbarian body was strewn on the ground at the feet of several trolls. :(

Having played a lot of EQ1 and EQ2 - i would have to say that you can't really compare the two when it comes to money.

There are things selling for 500,000 pp in the bazaar in the original everquest.

Sony did good in eq2 by dividing the different pieces (plat, gold, silver, copper) by 100 instead of by 10.

I agree IT is nice being able to carry your life savings on eq2 with you. In eq1 that would be about impossible. At this point SOE could just about do away with copper and silver completely in eq1 because it has so little value.

The only time I have been over burdened with weight in EQ II is when I bought too many strong boxes. Then my lovely wood elf had that sexy slow walk you see some NPC's doing. LOL

Whenever one of my toons is walking in that over-burdened slow-mo, I can't help but hear the music from the beginning of Reservoir Dogs - where the whole crew is leaving the coffee shop and walking in slow motion. If I'm in third person, it always cracks me up!
