I recently thought id try test to see these new features. I copied my eq2 directory so it wouldn't overwrite my normal eq2. However when I opened up testeq2 it says I have a 19 hour download. Does it make you download the entire game or something to use test? I mean at 19 hours that is about what they would have to do. Is there way to avoid that huge download. IT looked like it was downloading the exact same files I allready got.

Needless to say Im am not waiting 19 hours to play on test, I guess I will see the new updates soon enough.

Are you on dial up? It took me 2-3 hours when I first downloaded it. What I did was started it when I went to bed. I play on Oasis except when the servers are down. That's when I pop over to test. I then end up spending the next couple of days playingon test. My normal play time is before 10:30 am and after 9:00 pm. My mornings get interupted a lot by server updates.

The one thing I don't like about test is that I can't seem to get my UI loaded and end up having to play with the default UI. There aren't as many people who play on test and the broker shows that. You are definetly at a loss as to what can be purchased on test.

to Frong: Yes, they want you to have a complete 2nd set of files because test is a completely seperate game. Took me 10 or 11 hours to d/l everything but I let it run overnight so it wasn't that big a deal. After I had downloaded the package, I heard about a readme file, (thanks anyway Lydiaele!), that will tell you what to copy over to a new directory to save download time. (Just make sure you copy and don't move, else you'll spend all that time rebuilding your original install!)

To Zoo: Yes I've also noticed that the broker is quite sparse. There were about 2 pages of bags/boxes when I checked - mostly T5 stuff and way out of my price range. I also see an average of a page or 2 of adept 1 spells and hardly any app 4s. I have a feeling not many people craft on test since the pickings are sooooo thin. Maybe there is an opportunity to become filthy rich there! Course the money would still be stuck on test, so...

I haven't tried to convert to my preferred custom UI yet and don't know if I will... I sure do miss EQ2Map... and the rest of the modules I have picked... Oh, well...

(edited because I still haven't learned to spell!)

I figured it out. I had 2 folders for eq2, but I didn't have them in the test folder.
