This site has never worked for me. Can someone please inform me of the services provided by the site? Are these prices from the exchange servers or are they suggested in-game prices for certain items?

NOt sure what you mean by "the site has never worked for me" If by that you mean the search function or other features of the site do not work then by all means let me know ( feed back on my forums would work well).

As for what the service the site provides is this.
Players submit their store log files.
I parse them and place them into a database.
I have set up a site where people can visit and search through the database to see what price, if any, a particular item has sold for. Sold in game for eq coin... not real money. Although prices from the exchange servers do exist in the DB, most of the prices come from other servers. The service , if you will, is to give players an idea of what items are selling for. Prices can be filtered by time frame, or serer or market or range even so as to get the most accurate picture you can.

By "this site has never worked for me" I meant I could never access it through my works internet. That's a really cool idea. I was just wondering about the site because I see your karma and it says "Default". I am, as I'm sure many are, usually pretty wary of anything a person with a default rating posts. However, this seems to be rather legit. Keep up the good work!

Strange. If anyone else out there is having problems accessing the site by all means please let me know. As for my default rating well, I can be opinionated and well if you look t my profile and go back to some of my old eq1 posts, not all of them were received real well wile others got very high ratings and in the end I am just middle of the road hehe.

I am not sure how "mod-able" EQ2 is, but has anyone published something similar to the WoWeconn mod for that game?

Not sure exactly what you want to mod... try a site called EQ2Interface located HERE for an idea of what all is available.

Their selection includes UI modules, complete UI sets, an outstanding map system and even a few damage parsers. What is not available are any 3rd party macros for botting or automated crafting. These are a violation of the EULA and are therefore not represented on EQ2Interface. Have fun!

Wowecon uses a packet sniffer to intercept the data stream coming from the game servers. They run a similar site for eq1. It is my understanding that the encryption is much tougher on eq2 and that combined with SoE's stance of now third party data gatherers is going to keep eqecon.com from making an eq2 version. Our site relys only on player submitted info, which keeps us in compliance with the eq2 EULA and also provides more accurate price info then the econ site does. The econ site only show you what people are asking for on the market, it does not tell you what items actually sell for like our database does. Also, many of the prices get skewed as people use the sale of items as a way to transfer money from player to player. This system is also used by 3rd party sellers to deliver their coin to their customers so for example, on eqecon, the price of bone chips was always like 10000gp. Now anyone familiar with the game knows that they are not worth anywhere near that much but because they are listed for sale at that price from the 3rd party vendors, that is what the price show up as in the database. Someone new to the game, looking at the eqecon site, might not realize this.

Our goal at eq2markets was to present an ACCURATE picture of what items are ACTUALLY selling for. Anyone can browse the market and get a good idea what ASKING price items are being offered for but to the best of my knowledge my site is the first site to build a database from game generated player logs so as to keep the information as accurate as possible.

FYI, and off topic, The popular WoW info site Thotbot and the related interface mod (Chaos? forget the name. It's VERY popular) is run by the slime at IGE.

Do we know who's really behind Wowecon? IGE hid their involvement with Thotbot as well as they could.

Somehow I don't want those unethical people installing software on my PC tracking God knows what for their nefarious schemes.

Voluntarily contributing data outside the game is much safer, IMHO, eq2markets.com's system this is the way to go.

I like the site so far. I havent looked through it much. One thing I would look for is an additional column for the price to have something crafted if you supply the rare. This is mainly because the rare crafted Items are not normally up on the broker so its mainly what you paid to have it crafted when you had the rare.

I did not know that thottbot was run by IGE, thanks for the info on that I will no longer sned my wayward WoW friends to that site, basically all I was looking for was info on a porgram that gave me a basic idea of worth of an item without having to alt tab everytime I wanted to list something. Thank you all for the answers though you have been most helpful, even if you made my lazy side cry, lol (I know it really does not take a lot of effort to hit alt + tab). I am glad that at least your site exist so as i don;t make too many bad deals either way.
