Hi.
This is my frist time posting on this forum and I have some questions.
Frist off i have tryed EQ2 5 times 4 times was with the trail of the isle and 1 time I bought the game. I dono why i havnt totaly got into it even tho I keep coming back lol.
Any ways on to the questions I was wondering does EQ2 have a story even at all? that was the #1 thing I love about FF11 im a major player I play at least 15 HRs a day and I love the story and all that you can do. Does EQ2 have some sorta story were that can make me feel apart of the world like FF11 has? To me a game is pointless with out a story to bring you into the game world so that is my frist question is there a major or story?
My other question is im a DRK 44 in FF11 and im looking at becoming a human berserk in EQ2 are they good DD? as in if im in a group can I good DMG and that brings up another question can I group alot? I LOVE to group with ppl cuz you can talk and enjoy your time playing more with other ppl. Thank you very much for the help :)

Ok, to answer your first question:

Eq2 does not have a storyline the way FFXI has nor does it have any "mission" type quests that give you a chance to join in the plot(prolly cause they're is no real storyline). Eq2 has a very rich backstory though and there are a lot of quests that will give you info and such about what happened during and after the shattering.

Berzerkers in Eq2 do not function primarily as DD's, they are actualy tanks. While they do do good damage it foesn't come close to that of the scouts and mages.

The char that would probably play most like a DRK is probably a Shadowknight. SK's probably do the most damage of the traditional tanks and also have a mix of melee skills and maguc such as the DRK has.

Yes its easy to find a group and you can group alot, but unlike FFXI you don't HAVE to have a group to adventure or exp or quest. There is a ton of solo content in this game.

You can find all the EQ2 lore you can stand here.

Not sure how far you've gotten on playing the box game, but here's some advise for starting out:
- Obtain and do as many quests as you can. You can get to level 12'ish just by doing quests in and around your home town.
- Loot and sell everything you can. You'll need to generate money to upgrade your gear and spells.
- Keep your gear and spells upgraded as much as you can afford. You'll live longer.
- Get backpacks for each of your carrying slots that are at least 6-slot or larger. You'll quickly find you are collecting a lot of stuff.
- Harvest. Get your skill up as you go into each zone. You might find a rare :)
- Almost each city zone has a Broker that lists items for sale by other players. Similiar to the one in FFXI, except you don't bid...you pay the price you see and get it right then.
- If you want to sell stuff, buy a Bulletin Board and put it in your room at the Inn. You also have a vault in your room - put to large backpacks or boxes there - you'll increase your vault size.
- Crafting - I'll save that for another thread.

That should get you started. Good luck :)

You can try the monk classes. They dont have quite the survivability of other fighters, but can survive and do decent damage.

Yes EQ2 has a lot of back story to it, and some of the quests will use more of the story then others. But as a whole your character is one person in a vast sea of story.

Fighter classes are tanks, meaning they're meant to take damage and hold hate/aggro more than dish out the damage. Of the tank classes I think berzerkers do the most damage but I could easily be wrong.

If you want a melee class that does a lot of damage you might be more interested in an Assassin or Ranger, starting off as a Scout, but that's soon to change. With the next live update you'll start in your main class from the beginning.
