Hey, i'm planning on getting EQ2 again. And I was wondering if pallys get many parties and such? I was just worried that i'd get a high level and then not be able to get a guild or parties for anything and be left in the dust. And also can they tank very well and do good DPS? Not like really good, but enough to be noticed, I don't want to just be another support job and doesn't do much but cast spells. So, I was just wondering is pally worth leveling? Is it fun? Is it useful? Is it strong enough to not be just a Mage? I love mages don't get me wrong, but I want to be Fighter type of class.

Paladins are very useful in a party, they do good damage, can tank fairly well and don't have much trouble holding aggro.
Of the classes in EQ2, the damage is broken down like this:
Fighters: tanks with low DPS
Scouts: Medium armor, medium-high DPS
Mage: Low armor, high DPS
Priest: Healers

I have found I have had no trouble getting groups after I hit lvl 25ish, however I mostly soloed 1 to 25. While I can get into a group easy, I tend to get into lower level groups since I am the tank. Like right now I am lvl 34 and I can't ever get a runnyeye group cause I am told I can't tank it, yet lvl 30 scouts/mages/priests join them all the time. I put alot of the blame on soe for making group mobs so freakin hard (IE taking ^^ and turning them into ^^^).
But really I don't mind, at least I am getting groups. I have found I get exp quicker killing green heroics then I do soloing yellow solos, and its a heck of alot more fun. Being able to heal yourself is nice, and paladins can really solo undead like a champ.

I'm a 40 paladin and I feel that pally's are the best fighter's we can use the best armor and weapons and best shields we have good hit spells and we can heal what more can you ask for.

I would say pld is the best job you can be with invites always and can heal almost as good as a healers spell. Now you can be better then a guardian if you have money. Like i have pristine imbued feysteel (alll legendary armor) and i have more Mitigation then a 43 guardian and im 38. Also getting master spells help also for i can heal myself for 500 and AE spell cure for 800. Also i can ward myself for 594 points of dmg and can cause mass dmg using sword and shield or just 2 handed weapon. I beleive pld is the best and can be the best tank in game if you have the right party.
It helps to have a party with money also for buffs from them. This helps alot. i would say i am WAY better then a guardian right now and can do an extensive amount of dmg in offensive mode. ALso having master taunt i can out due guardians (surpress) easy. Pld is the way to go and best job to go with. From my friend i heard it gets better at higher levels.

Maybe but a pally can help assit heal also. Which makes them top. I mean i can heal for like 2500 with my master spell. But I mean if guardian does have that equipment i have they still wont be able to heal the group if in trouble. Plus we can revive also which makes a huge help and have transfer dmg spell (can i hear (amends) Thank You
Yeah but a guardian with that armor and master spells is a ******* brick wall. Who needs heal when you don't take damage?
And a guard's suppress at master 1 beats a pally's taunt by about 100 or so, plus we get the Hold the Line type spells, which are the absolute best tanking ability ever.
Any tank can be uber if you've got great armor, and just because you have it doesn't mean your better then the tanks that don't, just richer.

OMG someone is comparing a pally and a guardian as a ******* tank WTF is up with that a guardian is the best tank in whole game...zerker is best and paly/Sk 3rd best i dont really think a monkey or brawlers are tanks..they cant hold much heavy armor so there for they dont have much mitigation but...they can dodge really good( i suppose) so im not sure bout a monk or brawler but all i know is that guardians are the best tanks... !!!

Guys I'm 35th Ogre Paladin.
I have a question on getting hate.
If you cast a group heal spell when no one in your group is hurt.
Do you still get enough hate in this case as well ?
