Pet classes (summoner then conjuror or necromancer depending on which city you are) are the most 'common' choices for soloers. From what I've heard so far, necro would do a little bit better. Truly though, practically any class can solo well, some classes just do it better and quicker than the others (i.e as a templar, I CAN solo if I don't mind spending 15 minutes fighting the same mob).

You might also want to consider Paladin, they do really good on their own, especially against undeads.

thanks for the advice, playing a summoner sounds kinda fun anyway so I think ill give that a try, was thinking a little about trying ranger also but I play allot of ranger types in all my other games I play and Iv never played a mage type so I think id enjoy summoner , thanks.

The problem with soloing as a ranger or any scout type is while faster the a templar (Im one too) after your initial attack you cant use most of your abilities cuz you need to be stealthed or behind your target or in the rangers case get far enough away to shoot them.

This is not an accurate statement. At lvl 34 I only have 3 CAs that require me to be stealthed and one of those is a ranged attack and the other two are almost never used, (by me).

I solo my ranger a lot and after pulling with a bow, I normally use melee to finish the mob off. Typically, I will use one or more of 4 different melee HO "completer" options to speed up the encounter. (I also have 2 different ways to advance an HO.)

These 4 options are in addition to more than half a dozen ranged options so obviously, you can see that 3 is not "most" of 13 (3 stealth + 4 melee + 6 ranged). 3 is not even "most" of 7 (3 stealth + 4 melee)...

Add to all of this the blinding speed of a ranger with a pair of fast DW weapons and you have a very good soloer. As a rule, a solo mob of white or better con is down into yellow or even orange health while still incoming. So melee for my ranger is pretty much "mop up" of whatever the mob has left in him! In fact, I enjoy soloing with my ranger so much that I honestly can't decide which I like better... my ranger or my warden... either one is a stone killer when left on his own!

So wouldn't the better question for which classes can solo be something completely similar but different?

1. Which classes can consistently solo whites and higher?
2. Which classes can only solo blues and lower?
3. Which classes can solo anything based on what situations?

I think those would be better questions considering the standard question and standard responses of the intial question presented.

As necromancer I can consistently solo yellows and above and can sometimes handle multiples of that level. Rarely do I die, but sometimes I have to run from an add.

Any class can solo, they just do it differently.

Generally...

If you are a DPS, you quickly do your damage and try to keep the mob at a distance.

If you are a healer, you can root, nuke, and melee.

If you are a tank, you stand toe-to-toe slowly whittling down the mob, not afraid, because you are not taking much damage.

And then there is the issue of gear and spell/skill ability...

If you have weak armor and weapons, you will not be effective. If your skills and spells are Apprentice 1, you will not be effective.

However, if you spend your hard-earned money for the best armor and weapons you can afford, and always keep your skill/spells at least Adept 1, you will become effective and be able to take harder mobs.

Best I can do is 2 blue heroic mobs. But I can take a single orange solo easily.

No one class is best, everyone does it their own way.
