I know last year they had those wonderful Norrathian holiday candles which I am quite sad I was not around to get some.Smiley: frown

Anyone heard what they may have in store for Christmas this year?

Great timing on this thread...

According to several threads I have been tracking on the SOE site, we are due for a veritable deluge of Xmas goodies this time around!

I have seen screen shots of 2 different kinds of candle sets - one red/green and the other blue/white, as well as wrapped presents, wall hangings and a host of other holiday swag.

There are also giant candy canes and snowmen/snow-women which I imagine will populate the villages, (like the pumpkins did during Halloween).

In addition, there will be a new NPC named "Gardy Giftgiver" (located both in QH and in West Freeport) who will give you a different gift each day for fifteen days. The items include music boxes that play themes from EQ.

I understand that we will also be able to get into snowball fights with other players.

All of this is due to land along with LU18 which is schedualed to hit tomorrow morning - 12/16/05 at 7 AM pacific time. Enjoy and Happy Christmas everyone!

The only thing I have to add to this is that you said swag. It is one of my 15 favorite words. And I am glad to see any freebies they give to the players! Up with holidays, down with latency. (I know, but I to finish the phrase.)

Ummm... well... the stuff won't be free exactly... you'll have to purchase most of the items fom local NPC merchants... (except for the 15 gifts from "Gardy Giftgiver"), but considering that SOE usually puts a very reasonable price tag on seasonal items and considering what players have resold those items for in the past year, it might as well be free!!!

One more point here... the update had been schedualed for Thursday the 15th but for some reason has been delayed. The official word on the SOE forums now is that they will push the patch (and LU18) "sometime before the holiday". Hope none of you has been "naughty" and is causing them to hold back our gifts...

Well in any case it is nice to see perks and little gesture to the loyal fans of this game. It would be nice if it was more popular, but I like the smaller closer community it seems to have developed. I think it would have more serious problems if it got to be too big, you know what I mean.

And NPCs selling fun stuff for dirt cheap is basically free in my book. I really liked the rewards for how long your account was active, it was a nice touch and a good way to show appreciation I think.

I thought it was/is a fun event. Pretty much all levels can enjoy this quest. The hardest part IMO was playing the music, but I found a easy way to do it. Picture in your head each drum as a number (IE far left #1, far right #4). Get a piece of paper and right down the number of each drum for each time. I think you have to do it 5 times total.

I think they might have a bug in the final part though. Useing the snowballs 2 times can kill any of the creatures in there. I imagine they only planned on it working once? IF they didn't you can kill even con mobs in 2 hits.
