Necro or Ranger?Follow

Cant decide... Necro or Ranger. I dont know much about the ups or downs on each of them. All I know is Rangers can stealth mainly shooting a bow and Necros control pets that do their dirty work. Both sound fun to me but i cant decide! Anyone that could give me some advice or anything would help.

Each of those is a different class. Ranger is in the Scout class while Necro is in the Mage class. You will need to select the appropriate class when you begin your character. Meaning, you can't start as a Scout and then decide to be a Necromancer.

But you can roll two different characters and try them both.

Rangers have medium armor, dual wield, and are masters with ranged bow attacks. They have a tracking ability (a list of all mobs within a long range) and Evacuation - the ability to quickly teleport self and group to a safe location within the zone. Good for getting out of a sticky situation.

The Ranger is a Damage Per Second (DPS) class, meaning they will fill that role in a group. They can also use poison's to increase their damage output.

The other roles are tank (fighter) and healer (Priest). Rangers also have a Stealth ability, able to move undetected.

Necromancers are masters of poison and disease magic. Their primary damage comes from their pet, which gets more powerful and deadly the higher levels. There are also several flavors of pets to use in certain situations. The pet is used to keep the fight at a distance while dishing out damage spells and is controlled by the Necro at all times with commands like Attack, Back off, Stay, Guard, Protect me, Protect pet.

The Necro is also a DPS class, and has Invisibility, able to move undetected.

Scout or Mage, the two paths will take you on two different journeys. You will not become a Ranger or Necro until you reach level 20, and a Ranger is good, while a Necro is evil.

Playing a pet class is technically challenging, as you must manage the actions of your pet and it's abilities, while watching the mob and the memebers of your group.

A Ranger is always useful to provide lots of DPS in a group, but while soloing, it's difficult to jump behind a mob and get a high-damage rear-attack.

There are very skilled Rangers and very skilled Necro's. Both are fun to play, so why not try both and see how you like it?

By the way, the good counterpart to a Necro is Conjurer (me). :)
