I just returned to EQ2 after an 8 mth break and i've noticed the past 3-4 mornings the servers have been locked down. While this is a big grip,i mainly work nights and play my games a few hours before i crash and burn, then get up,eat, shower and head back to work.I'm just curious if this "server lockdown" happens every morning because i've played maybe 2 hours in 3-4 days.

The servers are brought down just about every morning at 10:00 a.m. ET / 7:00 a.m. PT for approximately an hour.

Once in a while you'll have a day when they are not brought down, but you're better off assuming the server's going to be taken down. They stay up for the most part on weekends, but you never know.

Over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, I think they went 5 days without bringing them down.

Today happens to be patch day so the downtime is longer than normal.

Oh I don't know that I would agree that the servers are brought down allmost every day. They were brought down today and yesterday but I think the last time before that was last Tuesday. I would say that the servers are down more like 3-4 days every 2-weeks.

I do agree that the timing is very lousy for those of us who like to play a little in the AM. I thought that the whole idea behind the European servers being seperated from the US servers was to avoid interupting play time? That doesn't seem to have worked out that way though.

What I do is keep my Test server updated on a weekly basis so I can play there while the main servers are down. The population on Test is very low though and that makes it a bit difficult. But then maybe it's only low in the new zones. But then when I did a search on the broker I was amazed at the lack of items for sale.

Usually it's wednsdays that the servers are brought down for patches. Every once in awhile they're brought down a couple days in a row if there is anything they need to fix, but I dont find it happening often. I tend to pop on a couple mornings a week just to harvest or finish up some quests and its only Wed I dont bother trying.

There are some weeks where the servers are not restarted for a couple of days. However, on most weekdays, they are brought down for restart, update, whatever.

Even though the server is normally not down very long, approximately 30 minutes, sometimes less, sometimes more, they are taken down ALMOST every weekday and I believe this is what the OP was asking.

Wow! I guess I would have to say that I am wrong then. By that list it does look like the servers are down most weekdays. I am not sure how I missed all that down-time though. I must be on just before it or just after it.

Yes they had to make an emergency fix. Master chests were dropping like snow in Canada yesterday. While I found the idea of adding some master spells and rares into master chests in DoF, I think they screwed up at the rate those were dropping. Imagine, in a normal night run yesterday (Poet's Palace, Scornfeather Roost, and then seeing this we even tried Hidden Cache lol) I've seen around 10 master chests (theres no epic mobs in these zones) for a total of 6 level 55+ master spells, 4 fabled items and about 7-8 rares. Not bad for zones that offer little challenge and can be cleared with your tank not even falling in yellow health lol.

That is why, this afternoon, the servers went down. It was, in my opinion and I think it was shared mostly by a majority of players, a bit too much.

Man oh man, I always seem to be left out of those "mistakes". :(

Lucky for me I am at work :)

Anyhow they have to do it when its best for A: them and B: when the least amount of people will be on line. And they would know info on the best time to do it by looking at the server logs.

But I agree sucks to be in the small amount of time frame where you can play and can't.
