ChanterFollow

Hello peeps,
Im a n00b and just recently jumped into EQ2. I was a fanatic EQ1 player and used to play a chanter.

I decided to stick with what I knew and created an enchanter again. Am I correct when I say that enchanters in EQ2 do not get pets? Also after looking through the spell list on here, the spells are not that great.

Can anyone give me any insight as to what magic characters are the funnest to play on here? Ive never been much of a tank...

I personally like pet classes - for EQ2 that would be Mage > Summoner > Conjurer/Necromancer.

It's techically challenging to manage a pet while helping a party, I've never been one to stand toe-to-toe with a mob.

Enchanters do get a pet, but it is not a "pure" pet like the above line. It can cast and can take damage instead of you, but it's not as versitile like the Summoners pets, and definately not as deadly.

I've also had lot's of fun playing a Monk and Troubador. The Monk has some fantastic martial art animations, and the Troubador's spell effect with musical notes are wonderous to watch.

You could try several different classes to see how you like them and finally decide on one. Or be like most of us and decide on 2...or 3...or 4... :)

Illusionist gets a pet it is not as strong as a summoners pet which is correct but it does a lot of stuns and rooting which is helpful when fighting in groups or when soloing.

also the coercer gets a charm where you can make the enemy yours to control which is pretty kewl cause it also gives you exp when it dies but not the full amount.

The Illusionist pet is similar to the sword animation you had in EQ, except with the ability to control it (tell it attack, back off, etc). It's also a bit beefier than that the EQ1 pet was.

The Coercer is similar to charming as an EQ1 enchanter. You can get some pretty powerful pets, but it's high risk and you need to know how to control and get out of charm breaks. A top-notch Coercer is perhaps the fastest solo-xp class around ... but, man, it can be a pain.
