building the griff towersFollow

After yesterday's patch, we were afforded the opportunity to assist in the construction of the four new towers in T-Steppes and in Nek Forest.

I managed to complete the guard quest at the tower nearest the T-Steppes entrance from Antonica, but by the time I could finish the gathering quest and aquire some abrasive sandpaper for the crafting quest, construction had been completed and I was left holding the bag... well holding the lumber anyway!

The reward is really cool - it is a tiny model of a griff tower that is now sitting on the bone desk in my toon's inn room.

Did anybody else here get to participate in this live event?

I had my chance to do a bit of harvesting for (I think) the last tower being build on the Permafrost server. I really enjoyed that event because it brought together everyone from all spectrums of the game, and not just high level raiders like the last one.

I was able to craft some plans for the tower near the Antonica gates and then harvested some wood for the tower in Thundermist Village.

I agree this was a really neat event that just about everyone could participate in. And it forced people to go to Nek Forest! Poor Nek, always forgotten... Smiley: lol

On the Shadowhaven server, the Thundering Steppes towers are complete (I think), but it's like pulling teeth trying to get the Nektulos towers done. The Port Naythex tower is done, the Commonlands tower is almost done (just needs a bit more lumber), and the other two are barely started. I keep trying to rally the troops, but nobody seems to care.

We had a General Do'Uglas (25^^^ Epic x4) spawn at the Bone Lake tower, which stopped the already-pathetic work efforts. I tried to get up a Raid group to take him down, and got all of 6 other people, two of whom immediately bailed as soon as they realized that one of the other players was high enough level that they wouldn't get XP from the encounter. Do'Uglas rampaged until I managed to get a Lv. 60 (!!!) Berserker to come tank, just so that work on the tower would resume. And even HE almost died to Do'Uglas.

Finally, I noticed that materials that have been crafted for the towers will decay if work isn't kept going - I made a run (15 units) of Tools for the Bone Lake tower before going to bed last night, and when I got back, all of the stats on the Bone Lake tower were zeroed - zero progress, zero lumber, zero tools, zero plans. So if things are dropping off on one of the towers on your server, get more people in there!
