city writs - grrrr!Follow

#1 Nov 04 2005 at 10:21 AM Rating: Decent
I want to be a useful member of my guild but every time I approach a writ giver I am told to see the city registrar who only offers me the group-only writs that need 6 or more players to complete.
Am I missing something here? I've tried every writ giver I know of and this is invariably what happens. My guild is at level 22

take the quest and keep it in your log...

If you dont have the one to see that person you will go there everytime till you take it.

after you have it in your quest book just hail the person again. If that person doesnt give you a quest then you need to move up to the next lvl of writs

where can i get info on the 'guild level' stuff? my wife and i are in a guild, and we'd love to contribute what we can but we are severe EQ2 noobs and know nothing about that aspect of the game. we're low level but i'm sure every little bit helps :)

Press the U (default key for it) and it will bring open the guild list. On the bottom of every page will show the an exp bar. that is the lvl of the guild. Now if you have more then 24 unique players in the guild a writ wont do anything for that at all lol. I have done 50 writs and only get 150 guild status which barely bumps the bar. doing HQ's is the best way to lvl the guild. The Guild writs which require you to get a group of guildies does do some but you need to do the higher lvl ones.

Take a look here for a complete list of guild level rewards.

When you achieve levels, certain merchants will "unlock" items for sale. Others, like horse vendors, will lower their prices, having you pay in gold+status, instead of just gold.

Keep in mind that Heritage Quests give a good boost to your guild xp but you can only complete these once per character, while you can get writs and do them over and over and over again.

Some guilds use the tactic of getting a group of 6 ppl and run around and all grab the same writs for a better xp boost. This is usually a quick way of doing so since most (if not all) the mobs you need for city writs are solo mobs (Can't tell for sure if they are all solo since I am only doing tradeskilling writs)

There are also the status items that you can sell to the proper NPC's for a little xp boost. If you sell them one by one you wont see much of a difference but if you hold on to them and get a stack and sell it, you might see the difference.

Last thing but not least, you can also get a special title depending on the faction you are building with the different factions out there. Since completing writs give you good status for the one faction that gave you the writ but hurts your faction with all the others, if a 'different' title is your thing then you might want to work for only one faction at a time (which is lenghty, true.)

...and over...and over...

I topped 1 million status with the last round of writs. That's small change compared to the larger and higher level guild members.

The smart writ quester will pick up several writs to accomplish on the same trip. I get 2 for Everfrost and 2 for Lavastorm, and can knock them out in a about an hour, depennding on how busy the zone is. All the mobs are solo /con green.

Here's where I get my level 45+ writs:
- Steelgaze in NQ (top of the castle stairs on the left)
- Priest through blue portal at Priest Temple in NQ
- Eldar Tree in Eldar Grove
- Mage Tower, red portal

Good news is that many of the previous writ-grinders have moved to DoF, so "Writ Alley" is almost barren. :)

Remember that the writ level you are offered is dependant on your adventure level, not your guild level. They are in level groups of 5. When you advance past a level range, you must seek out the next higher level writ givers.

Here's a good list of the writ-givers by level range. Disclaimer: there have been some changes to the mobs on some writs that may not be reflected.

You guys are lucky. Nearly every writ I've ever had involved going to some area that's not very solo friendly. Lets see, got an old one to kill some heroic ^^^ zombies in stormhold, one to kill grouped heroic deer in zek, and a few others. I think I've had 2 so far that could be done solo. Must just be bad luck.

Writs for level x0-x4 are, in general for the overland area of the zone, and are generally soloable (or at least one or two of them are). Writs for x5-x9 of a particular tier take place in the appropriate dungouns for those levels, and generally will require a group.

As for being smart and taking 4 writs with you each time you leave the city- remember that you will gain and lose faction with each writ you do, so if you want to get a title or item rewards from any particular faction, you will be unable to get them if you do 4 at a time, it will take you forever if you do 3 factions (and the same 3 of the 4 each time, about 280 writs for hte first title if you do just otwo of the factions consistantly, and about 140 if you concentrate on only one faction. Something to consider if those things are important to you.

this is for the people that are having trouble getting the list...

I got tired of hunting down faction information as it related to levels and zones, so I reorganized a few others' postings to make it easier for myself, and have now combined even more information into this post for others based on feedback. Feel free to reply if you have missing or corrected information.

Thanks to all for the input, and I hope you might find this collaboration useful! PS, those level colors are just there to make your level easier to find. (i.e., if you're 25 just look for all the red sections all the way down the page)

Tips & Tricks: When you hail the NPC, they gives you a writ randomly. If it's not the one you want, just say no and hail them again. That way everybody in your group can get the same one.
