Help deciding between Conjurer and NecroFollow

Well, I finally broke down and got this game. I am interested in a Conjurer or Necro because of the use of thier pets. I have tried finding info. (pictures really) on the 2 class's pets. But, I have not found anything. I know that conjurer's pets are elemental. But, I want to know visually the difference.

What I am looking for is which one has more of a pet feel, and not simply little "drones". I have played Summoner in FFXI, and Warlock in WoW, and I like that those pets feel like big monsters. Does anyone have some info that can help me decide on either conjurer or necro based on pet appearance? Maybe a place to see what they look like?

Since this is my first toon, and I have to decide good or evil for these two classes, I need some help making my choice before I start playing.

Simply put, the pets are broken down into 3 classes:
Earth = Tank with high HP/taunt and low DPS. BEst when soloing hard mobs.
Air = Scout with medium armor and DPS. Best when soloing normal mobs or groups.
Fire = Mage with low HP and high DPS. Best to use when in a group.

My favorite regarding appearance is the Adept III Igneous Magi that looks like a large flaming gargoyle.
The Adept III Earth pet looks like a grape ape with large teath.
The Adept III Air pet looks like a see-through human with rapiers.

The pets change with level and skill ability...spider, golem, flaming serpent, 6-armed flaming chick...it's a large and varied selection.

Can't speak definatively about Necros, but from what I've seen, all the pets are humanoid...either a skeleton, zombie, or dark human form.

Thanks for the info. I now have decided to go Conjurer because I think I will like the pets better. Plus, I have read that Freeport is kind of empty compared to Qeynos.

Both cities are relatively empty, but I suppose Qeynos would have a bit more. The cities are not social gathering places, more like a place to return, mend, sell your goods, put some stuff in your room vault for sale, then go back out and adventure.

Some guilds that have bought bigger housing may use the rooms to gather and socialize, but the streets are generally empty except for the wandering NPC's and animals.

You'll have fun with a Conjurer - have you picked a server yet? cough* - Najena - *cough :)

Yeah, I was wondering why the cities felt so lonely. So used to cities in MMOs being a hub of people chatting.

Yes I did pick a server, Innothule. It was the 1st one that let me choose my original character name. I am now a lvl. 11 Summoner in the city of Qeynos :). Trying to get used to the game. I like it, but it is so different to me. (played SWG, FFXI, WoW) You really can get lost in the great quests. Having a hard time with "learning the ropes" though. And not used to so much silence from other players. I got 1 /tell, and heard I say all weekend! The best part was getting my 1st pet. Things got SO much better and easier with him. Took out 3 white mobs at once in a quest for mage tower!

Thanks for the help.

Nice. Make sure you get as many quests as you can. Many of them will be as simple as "run to another zone and deliver a package". Others may have you kill some mobs.

Find ones that are repeatable and will give some coin. This is a good one to get in North Qeynos - you kill easy critters outside the NQ gate in Antonica.

Here's a trick for staying alive when fighting groups. The pet must keep all the agro.
- Target first mob - pet-attack.
- Target next mob. When pet lands damage on first, pet-attack second.
- Repeat this until all mobs are on the pet, not you.
- Toss in damage spells to help the pet, heal the pet when necessary.

I can give you other Summoner/Conjurer advice when you like.

Good Luck
