The entire place is not very large, just a lot of actions that must be done in a particular order. Kind of an EQ2 version of Myst.

2 boards go across the archway to next room and block your progress.

Examine the note on the desk in the first room, then dust, sweep, and hang to release the butler, then the boards are clickable.

I thought this was fun - not too difficult to figure out what to do next. It really is like playing an adventure game - which is quite impressive display of how flexible this game is. WoW has nothing like this.

There are a couple of things that are incorrect in the walkthrough.

In order to have the note readable in the basement you must first free the lady. You do so by dancing with her. It DOESNT take 20 tries if you do it in that order -curtesy-bow-dance-curtesy. That is common manners for a lady ;).

You then look at the note, then the door, then the food on the floor then you follow the rats steps to the second floor.

Was cool to do, and SOE should put more stuff like that rather than zones like harclave where you see fresh new noobs get out of there at level 55 because they grinded only in there and have no clue as how to play their character in a group.

I have done it twice with just bow-dance curtsy.

Now has anyone gone into the door blook with the doors that say do not enter?

AFter killing a few skeletons, I went bak to that door and it now only had the word "NO" on it. I went back up to the attic, killed 2 more waves of skeltons and was automatically transported out.

Maybe if I had of left 1 skeleton, then run back down to the door, it might have changed again, and be accessable.

One more thing, after examining the food plate in the basement, it tells you there are rat tracks leading away from the bowl.

The tracks are not visible, it is a mouse-over spot at the foot of the stairs in the first room where you zone in. The gelatinous cube is now gone and you can go upstairs.

...following the rat tracks will lead you upstairs to the trap door on the far end of the ledge. Opening the trap door will reveal the "large rat" (who must have left all those tracks), and the key to the door that hides the children.

The large rat was a tough fight and left my ranger down in the red. Good news was that the rat died first!

If you're summoner, you can basically just kill the mobs on the first floor of the house (the one's in the butler's room, and the other's in the Lord's Room) and just not even bother with the ones on the second floor and in the basement.

You'll want to kill the mentioned mobs with your pet one at a time (since they apparently won't group on you if you do it this way).

You'll want to have invisibility on at all times (this won't keep you from interacting with the ghosts, but none of the mobs will see you).

When you get to the last part in the attic, you'll want to just keep invis on, and do the "ward the undead" thing until you're done (will take about 10 mins, so you'll have to run back downstairs half way through and recast your spell to avoid getting attacked).

Edit:
Oh, and thanks SOE for damned near giving me a heartattack when your "boo" zombie jumped up at me right when I was about to kill him. I'm already zombie-phobic as it is. >_<

I was able to inspect the note in the basement without dancing with the lady.

Then again, the first time I went to HH, I didn't know about the note, so I just kept dancing and bowing for an almost an hour (somebody told me it takes a while, so I was persistant! :)

The zombie at the end has freaked out me too. I had the invisibility on the whole time I was warding zombies and I though that a boss zombie got mad at me for this and came to kick my butt!

BTW, has anyone received a reward for this quest?
I didn't get anything.

i can't do anything but the butler clean up then kill all the monsters.....i have made a macro to dance curtsey and bow to the woman downstairs but nothing is happening
#15 Oct 22 2005 at 4:06 AM Rating: Good
skip the macro and try commands manually and in different order till you find a sequence that works. I have noticed that she says different things and you only update the quest after you dance the wy she wants you to... sometimne she says "try again, you'll get it right" or stuff like that and sometimes she says "see I knew you could do it" or something to that effect... You just have to keep trying till she's finally satisfied (and isn't that the story of my frickin' life!!!)

The instance must change somewhat based on your level or something? I'm a level 27 Fury, I didn't zone into rats, I zoned into spiders (tough-aggro) spiders! Didn't get any farther than that. Could see the Butler over there, but I underestimated the room (Halloween and all). I'll go back in with food, water, and buffs next time!

Just a minor correction on your post. You only need to Bow- Dance-Curtsey.

I agree with you, I like to see more stuff like this in the game. But, having it for special occasions instead of constant is fine by me too. :)

Did anyone ever get into the "NO ENTER" room? I'm very curious as to whether or not that was a room that is actually playable...

To get the scare crow reward you get transported out of the house after finally killing all the zombies upstairs then you have to talk to the gigglegibber scalper again....and bingo...one scare crow reward!

Enjoy
