So Ive been doing some crafting quests and I notice that every time i finish it i get 100 status... but the question is, what type of status do i get?

So, do i get something for getting more status? And is there a way to check my status?

Hit the "P" key to bing up your Personna window. That will show you how much Status you have.

Status is used to purchase items from special merchants and how people in the city will regard you. I have almost 1M status and I'm saluted by the guards as I wiz past.

Status is also used to purchase items from some merchants when your guild gains certain levels. For example, once your guild reaches level 15, you can buy discounted horses using cash and status points instead of just cash.

If you want to upgrade to a better room in a town, your weekly rent will be cash and status. The more rooms in the house, the more cash and status per week it will cost you.

I think the flying carpet is 60pp and 1M status...or something rediculous like that...

The reward is from turning in 15 harvested items to your wholesaler and is an award of personal status points.

These points can be used to purchase some things at a reduced price where the total price is cash + status, (like a horse).

They can also be used to purchase unique "luxury" items that are only sold for status (and a little cash). These luxury items include paintings and other home furnishings, street clothes etc.

And finally, the points can be used as payment for the status component of your rent if you have a really nice home that requires status points as upkeep.

The trick to all of this is that you have to be in a guild to spend these points since status item availability is always linked to guild level. Example: in order to use status points to purchase a tier 2 horse, you must be a member of a guild that is at least lvl 20.

The way you can check your status is to hit the "P" key and look at the number of status points listed there.

The 100 status points you get for crafting quests used to be totally different and separate from personal status.

So unless they changed it, it goes towards upgrading the level of your crafting house. The higher the level, the more variety of goods the merchant has for sale.

That's why most people still do their crafting in their Wholesaler's guild, because the other 3 crafting guilds in each village have never gotten higher enough level to sell all the stuff.

If you look under Societies in your EQ button, and click on the ones you belong to, you can see everyone's total status contributions and your position on the leader board. Smiley: smile

Different maybe... separate no... the points also go in your status pool and can be spent just like the points you get from writs. I know this is so because I was spending mine long before I ever completed my first writ.

I may be mistaken, but I seem to recall reading something that mentioned that the EQ2 admins took out all Society status effects when they implemented the cross-class skills - removed its having any effect on the game at all. This was because, as noted, the "Tier 1" Societies were the only ones that had the best gear, so everyone crafted in the Tier 1 Societies, which compounded the problem because nobody was in the Tier 2 or Tier 3+ crafting zones, so they never got better. It still tracks the Societies' levels and points, it just doesn't mean anything.

As I understand it now, all Crafting zones have all basic crafting materials (water, fuel components). Tier 1 Crafting zones also have all of the Tier 1 Essentials books (naturally), and the Tier 2+ cross-class books, plus all of the Provisioner specialty ingredients (cream, cocoa, etc). The Tier 2 Crafting zones have all of the Tier 2+ Essentials books. The Tier 3+ Crafting zones (Ironforge Exchange, Coalition of Tradesfolke) have nothing special except the ability to get Writs that benefit your guild as well as you personally.

Are there any Crafting instances in Maj'Dul? I don't have the expansion yet.
