But some classes solo better I've noticed. Like my Warden can survive a big group of attackers, but my brigand can't.

I can only post and reply as an Inquis, not much of a difference between them. I have solo played about 3/4 of my game play so far. It is not hard to solo seeing that we can wear plate armor, heal and have Dmg and Debuffs. The thing that can be an issue is that it takes us 2 times as long, if not more, to kill something than melee classes.

I would suggest as soon as level 20 get an imbued wand and replace every 10 levels. It has saved my butt. You run real low on mana then use the wand spells while you use the mana for reactive heals and direct heals. Do not do this every fight only when you are down to the line on mana. Also get all your heal spells above level 20 adept 3. That may meen harvesting a lot or buying rares. You can always use the down time waiting on mana regen to harvest.

Just pick something you will injoy. I myself would not play a Templar just because they come from the land of Q. The light side is blinding and the cities are way to clean

Soloing as a templar is ... slow. It's slightly better with an Inquisitor. Your best bet for a soloing priest class is probably Fury. Maybe Warden. From what I've played (and yes, I really have played every priest class to at least 20), Furies are the most effective soloers.

It's all a matter of learning your class and seeing what you can do with it. Keep in mind, though, that priests will be slower than some of the other classes.

So, short answer. Yes, Templars can solo, they're just slow. Slllloooooowwwwww. OH SO SLOW. * twitch *

I don't understand why the strong desire to solo with a Healer class. Healers...HEAL. That generally requires someone to heal, and not just oneself!

My Templar does great in pick-up groups, and also at saving someone's bacon if I happen to be passing by when they are getting their butt handed to them by [X-type monster(s)].

Also, as a healer, one has no trouble FINDING said groups....

I played a couple of other types (Wizard, Conjuror, etc.) and was dismayed to discover I no longer had that "breathe-underwater" spell that had come in so handy for accessing special caves and/or long-fishing jaunts to harvest goodies for my Provisioner side.

Long live the Templar class! ;-)

P.S. In answer to your question, I've heard Furies make good Solo'ers... *grin*

In EQ2 right now grouping is thin on the ground for low levels who are new to the game. Templar a a base unit is a slow soloer but the AA system can get round that by building on Strenght and Int lines, hardly recommended for the uber healer it wants to be at higher levels but damn fine early on for soloing, AA farming and grinding out a few writs for your guild without unpleasant deaths from interrupts the class is infamous for.

My main is not a Templar its a Warden. But I am a guild officer in a huge social guild and wanted to stop our newbie Templars from uderperforming in guild status acquisition by making one myself and proving a point (I never told them that though).

Strength AA line cuts your interrupts and the Int AA line speeds casting time. A piece of Int gear here and there (say 4 pieces out of your whole set) and a nice Imbued weapon and hey presto ! A battle priest(of sorts) that also happens to be one of the games most impressive healers.

For my Temp, at level 40 ish I dropped the STR for other stuff but never felt the need to drop the Int, it helps in groups with only me healing to be able to dump that spot heal nice and quickly in between maintaining all the rest of the stuff.

Yeah any class can solo, the game is built for it. You get a card with 5 free respecs so can happily boost dps output and solo utlity all the way to about level 30, or even 40 then have a think about it. Eq2 is flexible and fun. Templar is a bit of a challenge for sure, its is a deep and technical healer, and very rewarding to level up.

If you spec your templar correctly, you can do great DPS and heal just as well... I have parsed up too 1800 in raid on my Templar at lvl 77, and still tore up the heal parse. As far as soloing... I solo five times better and faster on my Temp compared to my zerk... Number one factor being, I can solo multiple mobs at a time. With a zerk, if your soloing a mob and you get an add at low health... theres a good chance your dead. On mobs I couldn't kill more than 1 at a time on my zerk, I can kill up too 4 at a time on my templar. I solo level much much faster in turn with my Templar. Granted I have been playing healer classes since EQ1 release, but if you do it right, Templars can be great solo'ers.

By the way, INT for a Templar does not help you in soloing.

I dont play EQ2 yet. I just now started the 14day trail and played every priest class up to 10. Right now i am digging the Templar for soloing. Vs undead its easy and fast. But up to lvl 10 doesnt realy give you that much of a taste for the class.

Okay Let a lvl 80 Templar answer this question.

Bold Text[]Can a templar solo?[/]

Yes, all classes can solo it just takes a little longer for a Templar to kill mobs. I have never been able to take on a ^^^ heroic unless it is ~ 5 lvls below me. But I made it to lvl 80 pretty much on soloing. The hardest part was from lvl 50 to 70. RoK has set up the areas and quest lines so that each class can pretty much solo them. There are a few that you will need at least 1 or 2 others but small grps are easy to find.

The best part is once it the mid 70's you will always be able to find a grp to do the RoK instances. I am now pretty much legendary out so I can take some pounding. Have fun
