Can't use a bowFollow

Hello Fellow Scouting Folks

I am a newbe. I have a 8th level scout and I am trying to use a bow. I searched all over for a bow I could afford and could not find one. I finally found a quest that where the reward was a bow and I completed it. I was overjoyed and was allready to begin taking out the bad guys from a distance until I tried to equit it. I received a message that I had to be level 55 to use it. Ugg!!! So I understand that it might be a level minimum (11th?) but if it is not how can I raise my bow skill if I can't find one to use. Please help. Getting fustrated over what looks to be a great game. Any help and/or explanation would be greatly appreciated.

You could always try to craft one, that's what i did. I made a Elm Short Bow, its a lvl 7 crafting so its easy to do. I was at lvl 8 in crafting when i got it. Its nice to start off with :)
