Question about special loot.Follow

So I was finishing a couple of old quests, one of them being the armour quest VI (about 5 levels too late but anyway). I needed Steelhoof Hunters, so after looking a bit I find a whole stack of them.

But then the weirdest thing happened: after I deal with two hunters and one other, there was an instant respawn of four mobs. Two hunters so I wasn't really complaining. But after those were dealt with, there was suddenly a box with a golden shine, I couldn't loot it and the only thing I actually could do was 'use' it. But nothing happened.

A while later, I hear someone commenting about this in ooc, but noone seemed to know what exactly it was for.

And a bit later on, I was hunting down some alluring sirenes near the shrine, and I got a kind of globe artifact that again had the golden shine. And again I could 'use' the object but nothing happened.

Anyone know what this 'loot' is for?

Back in the first few months of EQ 2 they would give your party a random effect like restoring your health and power to full or giving you a buff or even giving you a shape change.


Last few months they haven't worked that I've been able to notice. They are either broken or dev's took out the abilities but left the boxes.

Same thing happens with snakes in Zek near the Spiral Pool. Twice I've gotten a Master chest but couldn't do anything with it except drool.
