My computer doesn't like me and keeps breaking down because of that (or it could be the stupid company that made it) so i have been playing off and on and i have some questions.

First of all, my friend is playing a wood elf scout(working on ranger) and just about every time he dies he's near a tree. While he's laying there bleeding to death and i manage to take all the aggro, he starts healing automatically and eventually comes back to life. Is this a racial ability with being a wood elf? If so, what are some of the other race's abilities? If not, what is happening? Either way i'm not argueing saves me xp and time. ^^

Sencond, I'm working on becoming an Illusionist and I saw somewhere a little while ago that mages could use throwing weapons. I have not been able to find anything in game that allows me to use knives, axes or any other thrown weapon. I know being a mage that i really don't need it, but i think it would be cool to be able to anyways. And before anyone asks I don't remember where i saw that mages could use throwing weapons i just remember seeing it.

If I could get some help I would really appreciate it.

You must have a bandolier equipped in the Ranged to keep the weapons. That is the actual piece of gear that determines the damage, and may have some bonus stats. Also equip the daggers in your ammo slot.

Bandoliers can be bought at several weapon merchants, particularly those that sell throwing weapons. You may also find one as a loot drop.

Found this here at Alla:

Wood Elf Racial Traits
Camouflage Hide (can not move)
Elven Reflexes +3 AGI
Faydwer Fashions Boosts Tailor skills
Forage +2 STA, +3 Health Regen
Gift of the Faydark Boosts Woodworker skills
Herbal Protection +5 Disease resist
Precision in Combat Special pierce damage
Tunare?s Footsteps +3 Tracking
Vitality of the Feir?Dal +3% Power
Wind Warrior +3 Avoidance

Not sure how your friend is regenerating from death on the spot. If he dies, he selets to revive and pops up at the revive spot in zone, and has to run back to the fight.

Maybe ask your friend what he is doing, maybe he purchased a clickable item that has a Heal over Time...just grasping st straws...

Could he be doing that thing where your health goes into the purple but you have a chance to come back to life? It's not exactly dead; I've seen healers bring people back from that state. Don't know how he's losing aggro at that point though; maybe he's hitting evade and it's working really well. I don't know...that strikes me as odd...in any event, it has nothing to do with trees or lack thereof.

The racial traits that Tutan listed are not something you have automatically. You get to pick a trait from the list 4 times; the first 3 are at levels 18 and 26. (The other two are at higher levels, and I haven't gotten there yet, so I don't know where.) Once you've picked a trait, you can't pick it again, so by the time you reach 50, you'll have 4 different traits.

I'll start with the ranged weapons part of the post, i noticed that you need a bandolier but all of the ones i have tried to buy are red and say that mages cannot use them (scouts, fighters and priests[i think priest] are the only ones listed).

Then for the regenerating woodelf, i believe it may be that he doesn't actually die that his health is in the purple, yet as far as i know he is not using any skills to heal faster or lose the aggro. It could be that after he goes down i'm still doing a lot of damage and manage to get the aggro on me. We are both lvl 13 so we haven't unlocked any of the racial traits and it's not the best group with just a preditor and an enchanter, but it does work out most of the time.

I'd like to thank you all for replying to my post and feel free to comment on anything else you think that we should do. We are also lvl 13 and 12 outfitter and scholar on neriak at the moment.
Thanks again.

If you still can't find any usable bandoliers, you should check your skills list and see if you have "ranged" listed as a weapon skill. If you don't, then you can't use any ranged weapons.

I had an odd thing happen to me on the beach of Nektulous. I had my main, Dark Elf Troubador, grouped with a friend and my alt Wood Elf Mage. My bard died. At least I thought she had died. She was laying on the sand but I didn't get a revive option. We had finsihed the fight and I was telling my friend that I thought I was bugged because I hadn't gotten a revive. The next thing I know my bard is on her feet and regenning.

She was not healed and as far as I know there wern't any buffs that would heal her like that. Seems to be similar to what the OP said.

Anyone got any feedback?

I've had that happen to me once. I think I was hit into low HP enough to make me fall, but I had a regen on, food or HoT that brought me back.

What I have seen more often, is after dieing and reviving, I appear at the respawn place and am suddenly surrounded by some spell effect. I look at my icon bar and have no shard to recover. A few minutes after the rev sickness is past, I'm ready to go, like nothing ever happened (except armor repair).

Now that's a good thing... :)

Before you are officialy dead, their is an unconciousness phase, if you have 40 hp left and get hit for 250, you will die. But if you have 40 hp left and get hit for like 40, 41, there is a small gap where you fall unconcious and not dead.
Happens alot more at low level since monster hits for lower amount.

Now i dont know if stamina helps to have a bigger gap or what but i know when it happens, youll regen slowly until you come back to 1hp

I am pretty sure their is a treat reduction added to falling unconscious and if you are both high on aggro list of the ennemy there are good chace that if you go unconcious, youll lose aggro.

It worked that way in EQ1 so it is plausible that it works that way in eq 2 also, it was easier to see in eq1 since it happened to all newbies while soloing, and monsters were so weak that they sometimes had difficulty toi finish you off.

Stumbled across Holly Windstalker while harvesting last night in Antonica with my lvl 14 bard... She had no trouble finishing me off!!!

But I understand what you're saying and yes, I have had a toon drop to the ground and lie there unconsious before dying.

Yout toon has to hit -10 hp to die if the mob leaves or gets pulled off of you before that then yes you will pop back up due to the fact that you never died.

If you ever notice in you text window when you are killed it will say you are unconscience before you die.

I have never had a mob walk off after I have droped on its own, that maybe a bug but I have had them pulled off of me before.

Thankyou for all of your help everyone. I beleive it is as everyone is saying, that you fall unconciousness before dieing, and since i was still casting i must have pulled the rest of the aggro and he regenerated normally. That is the best explaination I have seen, so it must be true. Thanks again.

I have a good story on this that just happened over the weekend.

I was fighting with a guildie in SH. As it turns out, his computer is somewhat off kilter. He needed the Rot Horror, so I helped him out. After we finished hacking up the tree, we both decided we were done in SH and were parting ways, but did not disband.

Well, I saw a ++condensed mist and couldn't resist the increased chance of a chest drop, so I start whacking away at the little guy. About halfway through the fight, my group window catches my eye because my partner-in-crime's health is depleting at a rapid pace, but his power is staying the same. Hmmm. This can't be good, I thought. I turned and looked down the corridor to find, to my horror, a defiled crusader having his way with my completely helpless Fury friend! The condensed mist I was previously hacking away at, suddenly left my mind. My only thought was getting to my guildmate before the crusader could finish him off. With my Taunt button at the ready and my prior sparring partner in tow, I threw on Skeleton Master's Rage and charged down the corridor with blade drawn.

I directed a taunt toward the crusader...nothing. 200hp left. I tried another...nothing. 88hp left. One more time...nothing. The Fury fell lifeless to the ground. I had failed...or had I? I noticed that he was still in the purple and I had not shared in his debt. I still had a chance! I had only one taunt left. It had to work! I clicked the hotkey.

"A defiled crusader hits you for 98 points of damage"

WHOOAAHH!

I had full aggro now and he was safe. I finished off the crusader and turned my attention to the mist. What a nice guy! He waited around while I was attending to more important matters and, as if waiting wasn't enough, he went ahead and dropped a chest for me! Those condesed mists. They are too much!

The fury slowly regened, went LD and finally got logged off the server, never knowing I had saved his life. Knowing he was now safe, I hit my CoQ and went and collapsed in my inn room.

Thanks for your little story. It's good to hear that i'm not the only one that has had this happen to them. Although my stories aren't quite as entertaining as yours Mearyk, it is a good feeling when you save someone in your group from certain death. It's even better when you get rewarded with a chest for it. ^^
