Not sure what MPK is...but...

There is no "best" class. Each has strengths and weaknesses, and all can effectively solo in the EQ2 world. Here's a basic rundown:

Fighter: Low DPS but can tank well.
Mage: High DPS but weak armor.
Scout: High DPS and medium armor.
Priest: Standard healer.

At level 10 you pick a archtype path to follow, and at level 20 you do it again. There are additional pros/cons for each of these paths.

For example, in the Mage class, you can become a Wizard with high-blasting nukes. Or a Conjurer that summons a pet and casts DoT's

A Paladin can tank well and heal himself, while a Monk is gifted in dodging blows and dealing stunning attacks.

Check out this link for a more detailed run down of the classes.

It comes down to what you want to play and have fun with.

its really hard to even attempt an MPK (monster-player kill) in FFXI you can zone mobs and they'll slowly wander back, and potentially aggro, or same when you bound them. in EQ2 when you run far enough away from a mob the mob returns to its location and is docile on the way back and runs really quick.

if you join EQ2 to try and MPK people, you are retarded and probably didn't quit FFXI but was suspended for being an idiot.

Ok, that explanation is good and made me laugh at the original post.

It's beyond me that someone would want to gank anyone else on purpose. Maybe WoW would be better suited for that.

MPK in EQ2? In the words of Dana Carvey doing George Bush (the first), "Not gonna do it."

Nope that is one thing I like about EQ2, they have gotten rid of training. If a mob is following you it doesnt switch targets unless the other player deliberatly decides to affect it. If you run far enought o lose its attention it becomes non aggro and non attackable while it goes back to it's spawn area.

I do kinda miss the trains though. I thought they were a riot when I was in BB.

The best MPK job would be the enchanter. You can string a group of mobs and position them, then 'release' and if the position and timing's right, the mobs will become aggro at the right spot and time. This is something entirely not worth doing.

As do I. The zones are very safe, and you can cross from one side to the other almost with impunity.

I remember all too well fearing to encounter the roaming Unicorn or hell-horse that would wander all over Lower Faydark. Or that blasted Pixie Scout that would home in on you and chase you all the way to Mistmoore. I even thought I could safely hide in the merchant house in LF...no such luck...the horse found me and killed me.

Dangerous, but exciting. :)
