no bulky armor, no tankFollow

im so sick of joining a group on my monk and having a 5 out of 6 person group, and people say "ok now we just need a tank" why is it that no one thinks of monks as a tank, i was playing in a 4 man group in TS the other day, with a gaurdian and a pladin, i out tanked them both. and still the palading was playing the MT role. i said, "maby i should be MT" i get a stupid resond "pfft you wish". what the heck is wrong with monks, i have 69.8% avoidance unbuffed, and like 600 mitigation at level 23, i can hold my own, but if you dont got the big flashy armor then all of a sudden you cant tank.The best tank i have ever had in my groups was a monk, whats with the paladins.

Mitigation.

When a monk DOES gets hit, he gets hit for a lot. As a healer I'd prefer a high-mitigation tank even if it costs me more power overall since the damage he takes is more consistent and therefore more manageable for me.

Guess it depends on the mobs you take on. I've only met one monk I'd trust as a tank and he was beautifully equipped and was a cute rattie besides. Looked just like a white lab rat.

Maybe you should pair up with a shaman [using solo Wards which last longer than group Wards]. The wards would last a long time on a monk which seldom gets hit.

kag, monks are good tanks, but they have to be very skiled and well equiped. the consistant damage thing that was mentioned is very important. plus at high lvls, mobs start hitting really hard, and monks lose their advantages in tanking. i have healed for many monks and they do just fine, but i honestly do prefer a plate class, its just better odds. just ask some 50 healers, they will tell ya. but no worries, monks are great dps, and welcome in any group, something guardians/pally/sk cant say ;o)
