There have been plenty of posts here recommending questing to new players as a means to gaining experience and swag but I've yet to see anyone list their favorites... here are a few of mine;

Nettleville Hovel - Verth's Delivery - In the back alleys of the hovel, you can find Verth who will ask you to pick something up from his brother at the Nettleville bell. The something is a case of bootleg liguor and if you bring it back to Verth, you'll get some coin but if you give it to Captain Hastings, (the guard), you'll get some coin and a nice 8 slot bag.

Oakmyst Forest - Proof of the Oakmyst Poachers - Talk to little Stewart Tredo then kill 2 poachers and you get a cool 2 handed staff. An outstanding weapon for any young priest.

Oakmyst Forest - One of the ladies in the clothing shop in NQ will send you out to get 4 Oakmyst Great Bear hides for her. Reward is a nice pair of leggings.

Antonica - The other lady in the clothing shop will send you out to Antonica (near the North Gate), to kill 4 Antonican bear. Reward is a nice shoulder piece.

I don't know if I have enough room to list them but, what the hell!

1. Anything from the Guard Captains in the different cities. They usually give awesome armor/weapons for very minimal work. Most people don't know to right-click on them and then hail them to start the quest(s).

2. Bookstrutter's Guide to Antonica (mob drop) - LOOOONNNGGGG quest. But you are going to be running around Antonica anyway, right? Why not get accustomed to it AND get a nice bag for your troubles?

3. Any Lore and Legend quest

4. Any of the Access quests. I love how they added this in the game. Plus, for some zones, there are two separate quests. Firemyst Gully comes to mind. There is one quest that lets you in but only to complete the quest and then there is the access quest that gives you, without being too redundant, unlimited access.

5. Far Seas requisitions quests (except the one for the lowland geckos...grrrrrr...I spent two weeks looking for them) They drop off the mobs rather commonly and are easy to complete for some experience and good coin.

6. The ravenous cubes quest in the Snye. Holy crap! Nothing made me laugh harder then fighting these guys.

I could go on, but I have taken up enough room. Pretty much I love all the quests in this game, because most of them involve activities you need to do in order to progress in the game anyway. So, I guess you would call them self-serving.

P.S. OBD, I was almost sure you would have mentioned Dreak's note Smiley: grin

My favorite quest so far has been the multi-part quest offered by Brandus in The Commonlands. In addition to some very nice items offered through the course of the quests, last quest, The Mysterious Missing Shipment, enhances the lore of Freeport by offering an explanation for your presence on the Far Journey, and your lack of memory about how you got there.

I also enjoyed A Rat Divided. Help a lovelorn rat!

One of the newest quests was a great surprise to me. By all means, do the new crafting quest and get the nifty vest and harvesting bag!

Easiest I ever did (relative to high risk):

Zek - Utilitarian Desires of the Toiler. You examnine the chest, make one loop around the pond killing the spawns, return to the chest to collect your weapon of choice.

Had a guildmate help me. We inviso'd to the spot deep in Zek to start the quest. Took all about 20 minutes. I selected the Prod reward and used that as my weapon for many levels. There are 4 types of weapons to choose from.

Any HQ - The longer and harder the quest, the more rewarding...especially if I die a few times trying (not that I try to die). I've even had to put some quests off until I got to higher levels. Quests with a timer are also great.

You're right! I did enjoy that one and should have included it.
Maybe it slipped my mind because I've only done it once... or maybe I'm just getting old!

I love lore and legend quests, and language quests.

OBD mentioned 3 of my favorite Qeynos newbie quests (NQ clothing shop and Nettleville 8-slot bag). The Willow Wood quest The Balance of Life is pretty good for mid-teens. It's in 3 parts. Talk to Daryann Stormrider, and she'll send you out to kill some turtles. When you return, she'll have you kill red tailed hawks; finally, you'll kill darkclaw crabs. The reward is a nice weapon (you get several choices).

If you go talk to one of the guys in the bow/arrow shop in Eldaar Grove, he'll send you to kill some hawks in Forest Ruins. They're pretty low level and easy to kill, and you'll get a decent bow for your work.

Oh, and since I'm a swashie, I was rather fond of the Relics for Eldurad quest in Stormhold. You have to find 3 items and click on them. I did this quest at 22 (if your sneak isn't upgraded, you may need to wait a couple more levels) and got a bracer that was better than my AQ bracer. (Different classes get different pieces of armor.) Any scout can do this quest easily once they're high enough, and I assume mages could as well. If you don't have invisibility, you could always try to find a rogue with a nice group sneak. There are a couple of other quests from Antonica (How Did Their Garden Grow? and Exploring the Chessboard) that involve exploring Stormhold, and are also easily accomplished with invisibility. The garden one gives a decent bracelet (talk to Darmen Sproutmore near the Mender's Hut).

Once you can reach Thundering Steppes, there are some nice bag quests -- Desperately Seeking Butterflies/Moths/Ants. I can't remember the name of the quest giver, but she's on the docks, past the bell to Nektulos. She wants you to collect 3 (specific) butterflies, then 3 moths, then 3 ants. You get a 10-slot bag, then a 12-slot one, then a 14-slot one. It is possible to buy the correct quest pieces from the broker (though sometimes they get expensive).

That's "Gregor's Old Bow". I love that quest! My ranger used that bow till he hit 20!

I started this quest but never moved forward with it. Are these the same bugs you collect from the ?s in Antonica & T-Steppes?

Yes, you get the ants in TS. Butterflies are the Qeynos collection items from the earlier tiers, and moths are from FP. You can get them in the Ruins, or just use the black market broker.

Thanks for that. I have had that quest in my journal forever and have been wandering around T-Steppes waiting for the "tink" and the quest update... thought it was like the golden acorn quest, (tree within a tree), where you just have to find the spot to get the update... didn't know I had to actually have the items!

Boy, do I feel like a NOOB!!!

Oh, my favs.

Any, and all collection quests. I brake for question marks!

Anything that gives me anything that can be displayed in my apartment:
Catacomb Rat Rummaging - oaken bench, Visiting Crater Pond - small lab flack, Kitty Wants to Play - wooden pet cage, Three Bushels Fresh - a wooden bucket (don't laugh, this was one of my first house item rewards, I was very proud and wanted to show it off), Filthy Bronze Key - Basic Table, All of the "History of" books - books, My Halas Coin Collection - An Ancient Halas Scroll, there are others.

Lore and Legend, they give you both books and and a trophy item.

I enjoyed all the team work needed to complete the Return of the Light quest. It was very long and time consuming but lots of fun. The instanced zone was nuts! My poor mage died instantly the first two times. It was really the first time we had grouped with those toons in such an intense battle. It was a lot of fun and a good learning experience.

I also like doing the cataloging quests. They are a nice way to learn what is in the area as far as the terrain and creatures. You can buy the books at your local mage tower.

I am just a fool for quests. I am currently trying to catch up with guildies who have been playing EQII months longer than I. I am currently up to 289 quests with 70 more in process. There are now only three other guildies ahead of me with 367, 394, and 529 quests. Of course their levels are 40 and 42 to my lowly 22. I guess that's not bad.

I love the Utlimate Quest list. http://eq2.arcanya.com/

It is an excel spreadsheet that you download and then can sort anyway you want.

I forgot two:

1. Dane Steelfist in Greystone Yard at the inn. He is on the second floor and offers you a three part quest in Antonica for some nice boots.

1st Part Kill lowland badgers
2nd Part Kill grizzled badgers
3rd Part Kill timberwolves

2. Eireneith Alannia in Castleview Hamlet will also offer an easy quest for a great weapon. All you have to do is kill 10 glade deer in Antonica.

Ok, I'm done...for now Smiley: sly
#13 Aug 03 2005 at 4:43 PM Rating: Good
Oh, I completely forgot about the deer quest. I like that one too.
Do you have to speak dwarvish to talk to Dane Steelfist? I know there's some guy who gives a boot quest in dwarvish...

To be honest Lierta, I don't know. I just so happen to be a dwarf so I could speak to him right away. The quest you might be thinking of is the Dwarven Workboots quest. There is a dwarf at the Ardent Needle in Antonica that gives this quest. It is a heritage quest and cannot be started until lvl 25.

When you get near level 19/20 get yourself a good group with a scouty type for sneak(this is very important later) and go and get the Lord Grimrot's Scythe access quest from the dwarf at the claymore in antonica. He sends you to talk to some peoples around antonica, they're all in easy to find places.

Once you go back and talk to him he tells you to go kill some sabortooth runecasters, kill them til you get the update, this can take 20 kills or 2, just be patient. When you go back he tells you to go do the same with Darkpaw runecasters, once again, just be pateint.

When you return to him this time he tells you to go see his buddy at the gate to firemyst to end the quest and get access to another instance of firemyst.

When you zone into the new instance run along the left-hand wall until you see a fort with some dwarves in it, go into the fort and talk to all the dwarves. One of them will have a lantern and a shovel for sale, mark him for reference later. Another will give you a quest to drive back the undead hordes. This is a randomly updating quest that everyone in your group will get at seperate times, keep killing undead til everyone has it.

When you go back and talk to the dwarf he tells you to destroy the Sigils of Undeath, there are 2 ways to do this-

1. Go through and slaughter everything and have a group member destory the sigils by right clicking them as you pass them, this will take hours. Since you are killing the other mobs you will also probably decide to kill the named inside the tower to, since he's guarding the last sigil. If you are going to kill him you MUST buy the shovel from the other dwarf at the dort and dig up all the graves around the tower by right clicking them, if you don't do this when you aggro the named ALL the mobs in the graves will swarm and kill you.

2. The easy way- have your scouty type sneak his way past the undead and right click destroy all the sigils, everyone will ge credit no matter how far from him you are. The sigils are undead hung on poles, when you right click destory them make sure the orange aura pops up around it to signal its destroyed. Have the scout go along all the walls and destory all the sigils there but save the one in the tower for last. This last part takes a very very brave scout. The named has see invis. The scout(or other brave group member) must run into the tower and right click the sigil as fast as they can, make sure its been destroyed, then run out. I have done this over 10 times with my swashy helping others get these awesome weapons and have survived the tower twice. Once the last sigil us destoryed all the other group members must hail the dwarf and receive your choice of rewards as fast as possible because the mobs from the graves will attack you no matter where in the zone you are.

I know this quest is long and difficult but trust me, its well worth it. The rewards are sme of the absolute BEST weapons for 19-27ish.

HEH,

Thanks for that write up. What lvl do you suggest this quest? Sounds like a good time. Too low for it at 12 but eh. Will get ready for it.
#18 Aug 05 2005 at 8:42 PM Rating: Good
I'd suggest level 18-22 or there abouts, can't use the weps til 19 so no use getting into a hurry about them hehe.

The undead are 15-20, the deeper in the zone you go the higher they get.

Its good to be back mearyk, I'll be on lucan all this weekend pretty much, I'll get on my swashy and give ya a ring and see if we can't knock it out, this truely is one of my favorite quests even to help with hehe.

Thanks to Dak, I now have completed this quest. And I am with him...it is definitely one of my favorite quests. The weapon I got absolutely blows anything out of the water that I have got thus far. And, I'm proud to say (and I'm sure Dak is too) that he did not die on this attempt. I almost did Smiley: lol He is not lying when he says that EVERY undead in the zone comes after you. I got the quest update and asked him if i should zone.

Dakimap tells the group, "YES!!! HURRY!!!!"

I rounded the corner of the fort and looked to my left. I should have taken a screenshot. I have never seen, in all my days of EQ and EQ2, so many mobs on screen and so many spells going off at once! There were minions and diviners and oracles and acolytes and the kitchen sink, all running my way with Dakimap in tow. I hit that sprint button quick, fast and in a hurry! I was no more than thirty feet from the zone line and I almost didn't make it!

Thanks again Dak! I had a helluva time!

Near the fork in anton if you go northward up along the mountain and then travel west following the mountain you'll see a group of gnolls right next to a rock, there are two mobs so go to the one right next to the rock. You can climb up the wall, you go up and follow it eastward all the way till you almost come to the tower of vhalen. There is a guy up there, you get his quest, go into Stormhold to the library to get the update, but you have to be grouped with a lvl 30 or so. Return for 20% at lvl 19!DO THIS AT LVL 19 FOR 20%!
