KVDFollow

Could someone without a master in math expleain in easy to understand language just how the KVD works? I have been attempting to increase my KVD for several days. I have been mass slaying anything and everything. Ok, so most of these mass slayings have been grey level but I didn't think that would matter. In my small guild (28 members, 1/2 are alts) I rank second from the bottom at 27.11. The person beneath me is at 8.06 but he is only a 10 yr old in RL. How embarrasing.

I have no idea how my KVD got so bad. I don't die all that often. At least I didn't think I did. If anything I would have expected my Mage to be lower than my Bard. Alas, my Mage is third from the bottom at 32.86, also not good.

How is this ranking set and is there any chance in hell for me to change it?

I used to be concerned about it, and went on a few all-greys-die trips. But then I realized that it's a factoid that doesn't really matter.
For someone with a high KvD, that tells me a few things:
- They are a bot, or
- They don't take risks

I've been taking on bigger mobs and zones, sometimes I get my Erudite tush handed to me. No worries, as I get the shard and continue adventuring...a bit smarter. :)

I died a lot when starting, then got better at living. Now when I go into a tough zone or raid, I expect to die. I rez and rejoin the fight. I know that high end raid guild bring an extra set of armor, because they know it iwll get beat into shreads.

You should be able to look at your details page to get specific numbers.

Kills / Deaths = KvD ratio

Grab a calculator and do the quick math to see if it made the calculation right.

EDIT: In reviewing my own bio page, it shows my defense as 17. That would mean I'm wearing less than tissue paper...not correct. So take the stats with a grain of salt, maybe the never-wrong SOE database needs to update itself.

Cynical and not necessarily so. I have very high KVDs on both my ranger and my warden, (590.16 & 789.5). I am not a bot and I take risks... but I am never fool hardy!

To me, a part of the game lies in trying not to die. This seems logical to me since I always try not to die in real life too!

One thing that may keep your average down is not soloing coupled with not delivering the killing blow when in groups, (since only the character who swung the killing blow gets credit for the kill).
