i was reading a few of the post and now im confused is a shadow knight a tank or a DD? i asumed it was a DD thats why i went SK but is it a tank??(i played DRK in FFxi so i thought SK would be similar)

Shadow knights are tanks, as are all fighters. Right now, they do decent damage as well, but a combat overhaul is in the works, and when it comes, SKs will be lower on the damage ladder.
The damage classes in EQ2 are supposed to be mages (magic damage) and scouts (melee damage).

Yup then they will be like the rest the toons. Useless :P

Right now the only thing a SK is good for is soloing and even that is so-so after the nurf patch we will be unable to even do that. They have pretty muched nurfed the game down to being a solo unplayable game. I have soloed my SK up to 49L now and really don't like the idea that I have to spend what little time I get to play being LFG. You would think the dumb ***'s whould get a clue and leave things alone :(

arrrrg, drk and sk are not much alike, drk is a DD class and SK is a tank class, some same abilitys tho.

If you are complaining about a lack of soloing at max level you obviously didn't play eq1---- Everquest is a group game not a solo game

Played EQ1 for a little over 5 years so yeah no soloing there unless you are a certain class, the rest are just SOL.

But no talking about the up and coming changes to combat and spell casting. If sony holds true to form they will wipe out all solo play and just make it like EQ1 so you have to be /LFG for hours to group for 10 min hehehehe.

Or if we are lucky they will fix it so at least most of the class's could solo in some form.

Everything ive read about the changes says they will totally keep soloing possible. Im not sure if it will actually happen but I hope it will. I like the freedom of choosing to grp, or play solo.

I know this thread is kinda old but i was reading through it and thought id add my 2 cents in from after the combat changes and LU 19 which just recently went into effect. Atm my current main is a lvl 60 ratonga SK and with my current skill setup and equiptment i can hold agro from just about all classes (to include a fully mastered out 60 monk trying his best to pull agro from me) the only class that can sometimes pull agro from me if Im not really paying attention is a wizard when they overnuke. My recommendation is to get your taunts up to master 1 quality and use your lifetaps and AOE's just like you would a taunt, and for the harder mobs pull with your harm touch then use your single target taunt and you should hold agro throughout the fight pretty easily. And as far as soloing i have pretty much solo'd most of the Ring of Fate, Amulet of swords of Ro, and the Prismatic 2.0 quest lines with very little trouble. Yes I know what your thinking, Im prolly fully fabled and mastered out, but at the time I did those quest lines this toon was an alt so he was pretty gimped for being in a raid guild. the only other bit of advice i can think to add is to make one of the classes that give you the most issues with holding agro and find out why they pull it from you so easily and you can tell ppl either not to use those skills or to tame them down, I did this with a Ranger (Lucient lvl 60) because they gave me the most problems. Also I currently have not seen a drop off in my Dps output from before the combat changes occured.

I agree with tomli somewhat. Ever since eq2 went live they have nerfed, nerfed and nerfed some more. There have been several studies etc that have proven you are better off to start out too weak and increase then to take away.

Since the game went live some things that come to mind are:

Nerfed the game by forcing you to attune all gear and then lose HUGE amounts of money by selling to a vendor when your done with it.

Nerfed the amount tradeskill tasks pay big time. I won't even fool with them now.

Nerfed players by taking away mitigation from wrist/waist/ring/ear/neck items. Yea yea I have heard the story about how do those items give mitigation. WEll its a game, how does a Breastplate give me Agility, how does a hat make me smarter? Its a nerf and thats all there is to it.

Made heroic mobs harder to kill by making them ^^^. Makes going back to complete green quests a pain, and it is harder for tanks to get into higher end groups cause people only want tanks when the mobs are green and blue to you now.

Those are just the things that come to mind, I know there is alot more. Point being if SOE continues like this eq2 will end up like eq1 where you have to raid 5 hours a day to earn gear to allow you to keep up with other players. I hope that never happens, cause I really miss the old days of eq1. In fact Id probably still be playing eq1 if it hadn't went so hardcore.

I don't see them ever removing solo mobs from the game, but I could see a time when all you can solo is the blue ones. And lets face it even soloing yellow solo mobs is crappy exp once your about 25+.

You got it all wrong and messed up. From your post, obviously you have not played for a long time. ^^^ heroic mobs are for group. Get a group and your problem solved. I gained 1 level in a group of 3 in 2 hours by just killing blue and green con ^^^ heroic mobs. Not to mention various loots. Soloing yellow con gives me 0.5-1% xp per encounter at level 42. To me this is reasonable xp gain. When you add in quest and discovery xp, you can easily gets a level in a day. There are in fact a lot of recent changes that make the game both easier and more fun. EQ2 caters to both solo and group play. If you hate grouping, you can still solo all the way to 60. But then again nobody said that soloing all the time is fun. I find that the game is more fun to play after the so called "nerf". Have you ever solo a healer with only 2 damage spells? Now that is what I would call slow.
