Group as much as you can, starting grouping at later levels really is nto the best for your reputation.

get your heal dept1 or better if you can and always keep good armor, dont panic and dont waste heals (ex. casting vitae when tank as 95%hp)

Learn all the priest that exist, when youll work with one it will make it easier to know what to do

im new to the game (level 17 cleric), so I don't know if my Strategy is the best. But this is what I do.
If we are entering a dangerious or big encounter, Ill throw a Soothing Sermon BEFORE the fight (otherwise you will get huge hate)
Ill throw a rebuke and weakness on one or 2 of the mobs that the tank is not engaged with.
THen during the fight, ill throw a Bestowal of Vitae on the tank once he gets into the yellow. If a non tank class is getting hit, ill either throw a Vitae on it, or if the tank already has hate back, ill throw a light heal on him.
I havent really done any big groups, or fought to many huge mobs (foought a couple named mobs) and my strat works fine.
Ill even throw in a few Radient Strikes and Smites if i am constently having a ton of power left over.

forget about weakness its just a waste of mana, rest was fine tho, always check description of spells, youll see that weakness really do little for the mana cost.
Also as you fight harder mobs, with different tanks ( sometimes youll have to heal paper tanks ) you want to always be available to cast your heals and not in a middle of a spell that dosent do much.

Dont worry if your mana bar seems to stay 75-80% full, try to keep it that way you never know what can fall onm you, and if you lost alot by casting useless spells, sometime a simple late add could wipe the whole party.

Hmm ill have to try the soothing sermon part. I never really cast that spell much. My strategy is to wait for tank to get in yellow. Cast combat healing on him to give him buff and heal then vitea(SP)

yeah i also level in a static 3 person group (zerker, wizard, templar) So we all pretty well know what we are capable of and what we arn't (except when it comes to named mobs.. If it is White or below, you can be we will take it on hah)

As for the soothing sermon part, usually if you have a good tank, a simple vitae should do the work, much less mana consuming if you kill at a good speed.

As for combat healing, maybe i see it wrong, i got the app4 version and i think it only raises the stats by one point, does it really help ?, i find it a bit costly compare to Vitae. When you know Vitae heals for something like 90hp per hit for 5 or 6 not sure how many heals, its like 3 to 5 time the mana effectivness of combat healing.
I mostly use these healing spells for patching between vitae or completing HO.

Shamans will eventually get to use medium armor.

You get to use spears [1-handed version only] although most carry blunt weapons since they are not only more common but feature better stats [in the main, spears will feature bonuses to STR and AGI which help when your melee damage is significant].

Your primary attack are DoTs with debuffs reducing the mob's damage output.

Your primary defence are Wards.

Of all the priest classes, shamans seem to be able to solo the best.

The best defence against a tough mob, is someone slower or dumber than you are. A tank will usually fit both requirements.
