A few questions for you wise onesFollow

#1 Jul 14 2005 at 1:24 PM Rating: Decent
1.) How would one go about getting a mansion to live in? Besides price (i know they're a few platinum), where are these mansions located?

2.) What is the cheapest type of horse or mount one could purchase? And what are the prerequisites for acquiring the low price (i.e Guild ranks maybe)?

3.) I know this is somewhat of a rhetorical question and you've probably heard it a million times but...what is the best way of making coin? I've heard from some people its a matter of doing as many quests as you can and gathering up your rewards, i've heard from others that simply farming/selling is the way to go. And tradeskills seem to make people a lot of coin, how exactly is this done? From what I understand, you get a recipe (from where?) then say you need tin, you would just mine as many rocks as you can until you randomly get some tin. Then, you repeat until you get all your ingredients, form the item, then sell it to the broker. Is this right?

4.) Last but not least, where do I get spells? I have a scout in Freeport, a fighter in Qeynos, and a priest in Qeynos. Where would I go to get spells for these guys?

Again, thanks for reading these and I look forward to your responses!

Well here goes nothing.

1)The large houses are located in South Qeynos. Ive toured one of them they are pretty big. Really spendy and you might have to be in a guild to get one not sure on that part though.

2)I believe the cheapest horse is 3pp. That might be before or after the discount you get when your guild hits lvl 15 someone can correct me on this if I am wrong.

3)All of the ways you have listed there are valid. I have made all of my money off of selling tradeskill items (This is a long process seems how it takes a while to make stuff) and off of selling harvested items that I did not need. (especially rares that I was unable to use)

4)Well im assuming you are talking about upgrades. You can buy app2 from the scribe shop in each city but normally i dont worry about app2's. Your best bet would be to check the broker for the spells you need and spring for the app4's or adept 1s.

Basically correct. :)

Recipes for the standard items are purchased from NPC merchants in the tradeskill instances. One book per level. Recipes for the slightly better items made from rare harvests are monster drops, so they can be farmed or purchased via the broker from other players who don't need the ones they got.

There are 7 different types of harvest nodes for each tier. They each return a certain item or group of items. Tin, for example comes from the tier 1 ore node (the name and graphic may vary) and it will always give you 3 tin clusters. My point is it's not as random as you indicate. Food and alchemy (herbs)harvests all come from the same respective nodes, but there are 8 or so different items, so getting 10 of a certain type is more of a chore. I harvest stacks of all the things I need and keep them in my packs or bank until I'm ready to use them.

You can also buy raws from the broker. There are usually other players selling off the harvests they don't need for a few coppers each.

Also, some if the ingredients are purchased from the same merchant who sells the recipe books - like fuel, liquid and some other basic ingredients. Ingredients are also the result of other recipes (subcombines). Making a final weapon involves 9 or 10 combines, total.

Ok that makes sense..and what's a tier? I keep seeing that term used with mounts and such.

Tiers are basically a 10 level range. Tier 1 is 1 - 10, Tier 2 is 11 - 20, etc. Adventure zones are geared toward a certain tier, city zones like Oakmyst Forest or the Peat Bog are tier 1, Antonica and Commonlands are tier 2, etc. The tradeskill resources for a tier are found in the matching zone.

When you hit a new tier as an crafter you start getting recipes for that tier's raw materials. As an adventurer you can start using them.

(1) The houses are located in South Qeynos along with some 3 room apartments. 6pp flat out is one of the prices I've seen for a 3 roomer and 3pp and about 100k status is another. The 5 room houses are roughly 20-40pp with varying amounts of status.

(2) The cheapest type of horse increases speed by 14% or 10% and costs almost 3pp if your guild is not level 15. at 15 they become about 1pp 30gp and status.

(3)I'm not a tradeskiller, not much into it, so I can't help you there, but I can tell you the ways I make money.

Quests- quests usualy give good coin reards as well as items sometimes, the items can usualy be sold for a nice profit if you can't use them. Repeatable coin quests are also nice, Civil service from the knight-captiany person on the steps of the castle in north qeynos gives roughly 9sp a go and is easily done by level 8+.

Harvesting- Harvest everything you find whenever you can. The rares you will sometimes get sell very well and often you can get lucky on the market condition and people will be willing to pay high prices for crafting materials because they get lazy.

(4) Its best to buy spell upgrades from the broker, but you can buy apprentice 2 versions from Trainers for scouts and fighters and from Scribes for priests and mages. There are scribes/trainers in every of the base villages and they sell spell upgardes for level 3-20 and for 20+ the spell vendors are in South Qey and Elddar Grove.

If you need any details clarified send me a PM.

Osyrys it sounds like you haven't joined a Wholesaler Society yet, you need to do that as your first step to start crafting. Smiley: smile
