Couple questions about EQ2Follow

#1 Jul 13 2005 at 9:31 PM Rating: Decent
Alright, I'm a player of WoW, I have a few characters to 60, but lately i've been getting extreamly pissed off at blizzard and their lack of released content, including their latest released highend dungeon, which is buggy and far to easy, fixing bugs, etc.

So, what I was wondering if someone wouldn't mind answering a few questions for me.

1. How is the high-end content of this game shaping up to be? I remember eq1 had an insane amount of content and was constantly being updated.

2. I can't really find any hard data on how SoE is coming on implementing PvP into the game, so if someone could enlighten me there it would help me alot.

3. How is the class balancing in terms of power and group viability?

4. Last, I was wondering what the death penalty is this time around :)

Okay I cant answer all of your questions right now but Ill give it a shot.

1) Not sure im only lvl 20.

2) SOE is implementing dueling shortly. Other then that with the release of the exspansion there will be arena type pvp. They said with the release of the arena area they are going to look into creating PVP servers but are currently working on class balancing for PVP.

3) In my oppinion the balanceing is pretty good. Every class is useful in a group. Of course you pretty much will always need a healer and a tank. Other then that you can get away with pretty much anything else.

4) Death penalty is a 10% durability shot to all your armor and exp. debt. The debt wears off over time or you can work it off. You get the debt if you or your group members die. Also when you die you need to go back and recover your soul shard. If you have missing soul shards its like having a debuff on you and recovering your soul shard also gets rid of most of your exp debt. If you are unable to recover a soul shard the debuff wheres off in 3 RT days.

My understanding is that there is more raiding for high end players to do in EQ2 than there is in WoW, but only a little, If you include PvP WoW has more for level 60's to do. That will change with the release of the expansion in September, which will raise the level cap to 60 and introduce new high end content. The expansion won't have anything much for newbies, I think they said it would be 1/3 raiding, 1/3 group and 1/3 solo, all level 50 - 60.

Adding to the end game and raising the caps in expansions is SOE's typical MO. I heard that Blizzard has no plans to raise the level cap in WoW - IMHO that's going to hurt them a lot in terms of retaining players if it's true. Especially players who aren't interested in PvP.

The mini expansions that are released about quarterly also add content for all levels, including high end.

Thats awesome,

Also, whats the RP servers like? I was thinking about playing on one since its been my experience the more mature players are there as opposed to the reguler server, but the RP servers on EQ1 weren't to lively, has this changed in any way in EQ2? Are there many high-end guilds on these servers?
