thinking of switching (yes i know there are other posts but)Follow

I play FFXI and to be honest, have lost all intrest in it (you probably know the reasons, if not look at the FFXI section). Well, I have been looking at EQ2 for a while and am thinking of making the switch. Only questions I have are....

1)Does this game require skill, or do you just hit the attack button, walk away and hope you win.

2)Are the classes balanced(unlke FF rng and blm are only classes that are wanted at high lvls)

3)Are there "cookie-cutter" parties/jobs that you MUST play to get a party, or are they all needed/wanted

1. The game does require skill, different types for different classes.

2. Each class has pros and cons, which are picked up on early as you try diff classes.

3. Not really, i mean there are different combinations of parties, and each is effective in its own way.

I see quite a lot of people moving from FFXI... ive never played any of FF series, just does not interest me...

All i can suggest is gove the free trial a go, and if you like it... WELCOME! if not... shame to see you go.

either way... HAVE FUN!

Every class gets spells or combat arts (automatically when you level, you don't have to buy them). These are things like attacks, heals, buffs, etc. Many classes would be in major trouble if they just hit auto attack and walked away; you have to use your extra attacks if you want to get anywhere. When I solo my swashbuckler and my fury, I'm constantly clicking icons until the mob is dead. I have a baby summoner who can actually send her pet out to kill weak things by itself, but it's not worth it. I kill stronger enemies and help my pet out by casting damage over time spells on its target.

Classes are reasonably balanced, and there are some major combat changes coming that will balance them even more. There aren't really any unwanted classes, and the new changes will help some classes become even more useful (like enchanters).

No cookie-cutter parties. It is true that in a full group, a tank (fighter) is very nice, and that as you level, you may need one or even two healers. However, I've been in plenty of small groups that were missing one or both of those things, and they worked just fine.

As someone who played FFXI for a year and played one of the lesser desired classes, I can tell you without a second of doubt - you must give EQ2 a try!

They really are two different games, and there is a free trial for EQ2, you have absolutely nothing to lose.
