Raid roles for Wizards and WarlocksFollow

'allo.

Have a bit of a query. Myself and a real-life friend I play with are nearing the fabled level of 50. As such we'll soon be embarking on raid content with our guild. However, as we've spent a good portion of our lives duoing and are not extremely experienced in raiding as a whole, we're a bit baffled as to what our roles will be exactly. I mean, we understand that we're there as DPS machines (obviously) and that our buffs and group-help spells (i.e. power transfers) should be used whenever needed but we're not quite clear on the particulars.

Firstly, are AoE spells ever used on raids? We've been using them to great effect recently but as aggro isn't a huge issue in our duoing it's obviously a completely different issue. Tanks have AE taunts and a lot of melee classes will be using AE attacks but I'm still curious as to whether or not casters risk it or if it's simply more feasible to stick to plain ol' DD spells?

Secondly, I assume Sorcerers are never used on raids for their crowd control (ring of cold and bony grasp roots) as it presents a considerable aggro problem. I'd like some confirmation on this, though. Just to be sure :d. They're obviously powerful spells and it's hard to look past them though I assume the answer is obvious.

Finally, how do our roles differ? We have different buffs/debuffs, the wizard has more efficient/useful power transfers and our DD spells employ different forms of magic to deal damage but is that it? Anything else to look out for or be aware of?

Thanks for any help.

The tank AOE taunts, you AOE DoT/Nuke.

Or you just target the one mob and take it down fast.

I think of our roles as basically either efficiently killing gobs of mobs or killing a dangerous mob before the healers run out of power.
