You can choose between Europe or the US, it's on the launch pad language choice when you first fire it up Smiley: smile

Are the US servers all in the same place? Or are there some on the East and some on the West coast? If they are in different places, would it be possible for someone to let me know which ones are where? I don't have a great internet connection, so I'd like a server as close to me as possible.

The location of the servers has nothing to do with your internet connection. It doesnt matter if the server is right next door or on the other side of the world. It all depends on your ISP. So the only major differance is US or UK and the only reason that matters is peak population time.

But to answer your question, I believe they are all located in the same place and that the location is in the San Diego area.

At least that's what makes the most sense to me seeing as how SOE is located there. I don't mean that the server farm is located on the same property as the offices... just that it's probably near by.

Well as far as I know the EQ Live servers were placed around the US. That's why some servers would be up or down at different times due to a routing problem near that server. So it would make sense that they have the EQ2 servers like that as well. Plus not to mention if you had all your servers in one place and had a fire or other disaster then everything you had would be destroyed. So it would make sense that they split them up. However I have no proff or anything like that just adding my 2 cents.

I am pretty sure all the servers are in Cali. As far as certain servers being up or down that is normally related to technical issues. Having the servers placed in differant locations across the US would require that much more manpower to maintain.

With the exception of the European servers, they are all located in the San Diego area.

All the server farms [your server is not just a single compuer but whole clusters of them] are here in San Diego except for the EU ones and the JP one [not open to public]. I think SE is hosting the JP one. There's a lot more than one router too, so a server being while others are up does not mean it's in a different location. The same goes for latency [although this tends to be more similiar].

Geography does have an indirect effect on your latency/quality of your connection. If you were in Pakistan right now... you wouldn't be reading this ^ ^.
