Pleasantly surprised,Follow

So I decided to check out my pallie on the Oggok server again. After playing another game for about 4 months or so, I got homesick and EQ I seemed too much of a bother. (deleted all characters there, didn't feel like beginning again completely)

Before you all start rating me down for considering EQ II as only third choice, I'm not starting this thread about the things that changed while I was gone.

I experienced some of those almost as soon as I logged back on, I wanted to finish a quest in TS and passed the second guard tower; then the rather apparent change hit me, and just for the fun of it I thought, why not attack those new mobs standing there? I wonder why that one is called an abductor?

Well, after actually being abducted I knew lol. A fun thing to do, good rewards too.

Other changes I've noticed were good, from a soloer's perspective, at least now I can actually complete quests without having to beg for others.

So, apart from just sharing the tale of my return (which most won't care for, I know :), I was wondering if someone knows more of the upcoming expansion?

As far as I heard, it is going to expand the level cap to 60, include a whole new city (but not a starting place), create arena's (which I always enjoyed, good for guild events too) with games in it (capture the flag, ...), new zones (based on Ro, where I spent countless hours with my pallies in EQ I), ...

Seems quite a lot of new things are added, any ideas on the level range for those new zones?(most likely high, hopefully something for the lower zones or middle range is added too) Release date? Anything I missed?

Anyway, it was fun to be back, and I think I'll hang around too.

The PvP in the arenas will involve getting other creatures to fight for you. I'm not sure if you actually buy animals to fight, or if you loot them, or what. I've heard a lot of people comparing it to Pokemon, for what it's worth; I've never played Pokemon, so I can't vouch for the similarity myself. Of course, it may be possible to fight one's regular character in the arena...not sure on that either. :) Apparently I didn't pay too much attention to the PvP stuff.

The city will be divided into 4 factions, and you will, through quests I assume, be allowed to gain faction with 1 group. Each group controls different parts of the city, so it may be difficult and/or impossible to go into the parts controlled by groups who don't like you.

Level range for the new zones will be high. I don't know if they will have any low to mid range zones, but the majority of the content will be for "levels 45-60".

You will not have animals fight for you.. you can and will turn into animals and fight for yourself.. like you can turn into a huuptic(sp?) and fight that way.. you will do the fighting now a pet..

The city is 3 factions isn't it? last I checked it was.. but all else is correct..

I've seen the movie Sony released about Desert of Flames. It didn't mention the number of factions in the city, but I like the return of faction.

Other than that, it didn't add any other information, apart from being able to fight on the streets of the city too? Doubtful if this is going to be an ingame possibility, I should think that all pvp is restricted to the arena area.

They're going to add dueling sometime soon, before the expansion is released. I think it's on the test server. You can do that anywhere and it would be 100% consentual. I read that losing a duel would entail the regular death penalties, so I see most people agreeing to try to end it before they die.

There will be 4 factions in the city. As stated you'll be liked in the one you chooseand disliked in others. Factions can compete and fight for control of the city. The winning faction can forcefully remove opposing factioned players fromt he city if they gain control of it. The other factions will have to fight back into the city. Oh and NPC's of opposing factions will attack you.

The arena events will be mostly done with your "fighters." You fighters can be purchased and traded. Some epic encounters will drop fighters. These fighters will be replications of the epic mob you jsut killed with some of his abilities. All your fighters will have a limited amount of abilities they can take with them into battle so you will have to pick what you want to use before hand. Your fighters will lvl up as well. And as I said before they can be traded. I'm sure someone will take it upon themselves to deal in fighter training and selling. And the fighters will be mobs in the game. Like a gnoll or an orc. And you will become your fighter and fight.

Walls will be scalable and there will be more movable objects. I'm sure the wall thing will come in handy when your faction is kicked out of the city. The city is up on a cliff and you have to take a carpet to get there as far as I know. This is pure specualtion on my part but it would make sense that you would have to climb the cliff wall in order to get back into the city to try to take it back.

There's some info. You can find more I'm sure on the official site for it or other fan sites.
