Does it get better?Follow

I just started a couple days ago (lvl 5 Half Elf Fighter) and coming from EQ1 I am finding EQ2 rather boring so far. Quest after quest after...you get it. Does the game get more social and less quest dependent as you level up?
Also, I am currently trying to collect 5 tokens in Forest Ruin for my Qeynos citizenship and have no clue what mobs drop these. Any guidance would be welcome.
Thanks.

First of all, if you're only level 5 it doesn't even sound like you did half of the quests on the Isle of Refuge, those alone should get you to level 6 + almost 200 percent of the level cap exp. This game is about questing, and there are a LOT of quests. If you don't do the quests or hate quests, this game is not for you. That is how much of your exp and some of your gear, and money will be made. Take your time and enjoy the journey and the lore, READ the quests. You're only level 5 and it already sounds like you're trying to rush...you didn't even finish the Isle properly. My suggestion - re-roll, play the Isle to the fullest, then go to your main city.

By the way, if your citizenship task tells you that coins can be found in XX area, any mob in that area will drop coins, but not EVERY time.

EVERquest.

If this games bores you, try WoW.

Since the game is split up into many smaller city zones (except for the larger continets) you will find less people in each zone, thus harder to get a group. There is no central assembly area like the bank in PoK.

Put up your LFG tag and check for others lfg'ing. Form your own group and hit it. You can also solo in any zone.

You could get to level 12+ simply by doing quests and a bunch of running around. Can't be easier and safer than that.

If you are unhappy with all the quests at lvl 5, it does not get better. Quests are really NOT required, however you will find yourself no able to use alot of zones with people your level if you do not do them. For instance when you hit about lvl 29ish you will probably be wanting to exp in zones like Enchanted Lands and Zek, however if you do not do the access quests for each of those zones you have to wait until lvl 32 in order to go there. Also those quests will require help as they are not really soloable. Not trying to bring you down, but this is how the game is.

I'm a little confused, Ivven...I'm not clear how you can conclude that I "didn't even play the Isle correctly" when I have done every quest I have been given or directed to. It just happens that the one where I need to collect 5 tokens is the one I am currently on.
I will continue killing stuff until I get the tokens, then move on to the next thing I am told to do.

You dont need to do that much quest, sure the access quest are important but thats not that many its just a couple quest. you can stick to the armor and access quest and the rest go all grouping.

The thing tho is youll have to use lfg and try to make group if you wwant it to work. Myself i have character with who i solo duo and trio with friends while others i stricly play in group and i never get trouble getting one.

If you like the social side, i suggest you pick a popular class for group like tank or healer.

There are hidden quests, trust me I'm not confused. If you do every quest on that Isle, and they didn't have a cap...you'd easily reach level 7.5 or maybe 8. If you're off the Isle at 5...you missed half the quests. There are over 30 quests on the Isle.

Pretty much any mob between the gate and the castle can and does drop the tokens. In addition, the bugs along either side of the castle drop them as well. In fact, I'd be willing to bet that every mob in the zone drops them!

The trick is that not every mob you pick will drop a token. I have done the Qeynos citizenship quest about 6 times now, all in Forest Ruins, (I've got a thing for half elves!), and it usually takes me between a half hour and an hour to get through it including the instanced test following the completion of the token quest.

Go after snakes, badgers, bugs and hawks. It shouldn't take more than 30 minutes to find 5 tokens.

Yeah, OK. I got the tokens. Now it tells me to kill any traitors in the town. I talk to like 20, try to kill them, and all I get is "you cannot attack this character." Very short on details of where to go and what to do when. I am not trying to shortcut or accelerate my progress but at the same time I dont like spinning my wheels. I ask people for help and there is deafening silence. Not what I am used to in MMORPG games. Not a very social game thus far. I guess I feel if I wish to play a solo game, I can go to Playstation. An online game should not be like this.

Dendor, did you miss my post?

I gave you a link to all the quests. Click it, select the zone you need, viola!

Unless of course you do not like spoilers or walk-throughs. If that's the case then you wouldn't be asking questions.

I didn't say you were confused, Ivven, I said I was.
But, in fact, you are confused. I have not left the island yet, I am lvl 6 now otw to 7. So, I suppose I will be a bit over 7 by the time I do leave.

Thanks, Old Blue Dragon. That was most helpful. I will try to go back to the sign and restart the instance. Not quite sure if I missed something or left the instance, but whatever, I need to restart.
Dunno why I am having so much trouble getting answers to OOC's. But I take you at your word that people are generally helpful and will keep trying. Maybe it was just a slow night.
Thanks,
Dendore

Yes, I did see it and checked it out tutan. It was helpful and I thank you. I am not able, however, to get to it during game and at the time I could not print it out. I can now and will do so.
Thanks again.

Well, yes, I recognized last night that I was confused. I was still in Willow Wood. But, I completed my citizenship quest and am now in Qeynos. Thanks for the help y'all have given in this forum.
