Soloing tanksFollow

Sorry guys, this has probably been asked a lot, but i'll ask again anyway:P.

I have played my swash to level 25, and i have realized that i like to solo. With ym swash i cant solo anything... its quite pathetic actually. So i want to re-roll as a tank, but a tank that can solo.

I have heard pallys are great, but every second person is a pally :P. Also, i heard zerkers and guards solo well, and are a great tank for a group. ( but i would lean towards zerker. DPS is my thing, and i dont care about being the raid tank much)

So it would be awesome if someone could tell me what i would be better of with. I dont solo all the time, i group a bit, but i need someting that isnt dependant on a group.

Sounds like you would enjoy Zerker though.

All tanks can solo well, well into their high 40's. It's all a matter of how well you play that makes the diffrence.

If dps is your thing, try a Zerker, Monk or Bruiser. I can be argued that all tanks do about the same dps with a 2hander, but when you see one of the above with imbued dual wield's, you'll be pretty happy.

It really is about your playing style. We could argue this till the cows come home, but in the end, just try them out and find what YOU like playing. I have yet to see a group say "Ewww, you're a (insert tank here)? We don't need you".

^^^ that is all correct.. seems like you are leaning towards zerker... it should be a sound choice for you. though there is going to be a damage change to tanks. Well it is pretty much a complete battle system overhaul.. so don't expect to stay the same way for to long..

At the moment, berserker can solo pretty well, especially against group mobs. My level 26 berserker best attempt in soloing so far is taking down 6 level 26 giant in TS (even con). End up with 20% hp but still win. Using 2hs imbued great sword and all yellow con gear. AoE attack buff + Haste buff + giant mastery buff = 6 dead giants in 1 min and half minute. Like previous poster said this all could be changed in the upcoming combat revamp.

I soloed my last 3 levels 43-46 np and halfway to 47 as a ShadowKinght. So I would say soloing is np

Old news - but go Bruiser or Monk. I rolled a Bruiser and can solo very effectively and fast too. Best DPS Fighter in game right now. Additionally, you can fill the role as a tank in groups but will take a sidestep in a raid instance.

personally, i think guardians are better for soloing due to their ability to have the heaviest armor, and they have good health and defence. my main is a 22 guardian, i find hes very good at soloing, even it situations when fighting large mobs.

I mostly soloed my Sk to 55. Sk's are great fun to solo due to their variety of ways to kill and stay alive themselves. When I did feel like grouping, I never had to wait long and I always contributed as either the main tank or DPS. With the proper build and gear, SK's can do a lot of damage quickly.
Equip them with legendary player made devout plate. It boosts STR, STA, &, INT. STR & INT boosts power pool. STA will give you more hit points to stay alive in the tough fights. The INT will allow your spells to do more damage. Roughly 75-80% of our damage is from spells. Equip a 1HS or 1HB WPN and a shield. Go into offensive stance and do some serious damage! You'll especially want to get your offensive stance and lifetaps to adept III or master level. Work on filling your jewelry slots with AC/MIT gear that raises your INT. You can also go down the INT line of AA/AP's for even more spell damage. The STA line is also good. If you get your INT high enough, you won't need the extra INT from the offensive stance. You could then use the defensive stance for even more protection.
For me, the SK is the only way to go because I find the other tank classes to one dimensional. The paladin has a little flavor also but I hate being good and the paladin dishes out less DPS than his evil counterpart.

It does all depend on your play style like they all say... I have a level 48 Paladin cause I like to solo as well... My highest toon is a level 70 Ranger... But with my paladin i can handle a level 46^^ Heroic...with combinations of the heals i have and the combat arts

I have been playing my monk for a few months now (exp turned off lvl with quest and new area only) and love his solo abilities. He can take on multiple (4-6) green/blue Heroic ^^, 1 blue heroic ^^^ or 2 green heroic ^^^, 2-3 white/yellow heroic ^ or below. If things do not go his way he can always play dead.

SK's and Brawlers are probably the best for soloing/farming.

My 62 paladin is sad dps. I gave up on dps around lvl 20 and went all out for heals and taunts & mitigation. I don't solo for squat, I can only take yellow or lower solo encounters, even green 3 ups beat her down. The only way I win solo is if my power pool outlasts their hitpoints. I only use 3 offensive spells, but then I've got alot of until canceled dps procs & imbued gear for a little bonus. I can however duo with pretty much any class. Most classes either have stuns, slows, or cripples in addition to sick amounts of dps. Oddly duo with healer is the worst I've done ><. With a scout or a mage they can blow mobs away and slow them down enough that my M1 heals & wards keep me healthy. Most lfg's spook when a paladin tells them declaring they can tank & self heal if they can burn down 3 ups. It's left me with a small but bad *** list of people to send tells for group on a regular basis. No idiots, always superb xp, with people who know how to play their class to the fullest extent. So paladin licks nads for solo, but this is the most fun I've had with any tank, I've got a 37 bruiser, a 25 monk, and a 24 guard, this paladin is my favorite. I've actually been whining that I got stiffed with the healer for our teens pvp locks... Everyone else wanted melee or mage and it kinda left me holding the bag. Damn I wanted to be a scout!
